Like many of you, stay-at-home has meant rethinking the cool weather wardrobe. My favorite blazers and jackets hang in the closet unworn. I don't remember if it was here or another blog that I noticed a couple of warm-looking items from L.L. Bean. I haven't bought anything from them in ages. This fleece pullover comes in lots of colors including some of my favorites. I also found this fake sherpa lined hoodie that looked ideal for fall walks on chilly or windy days. I bought them both and am happy with them.

You can skip over this next long part if you want. I just want to share my mishap.

I've had a pesky spot on my nose that keeps reappearing. A biopsy revealed basal cell carcinoma, so I set up an appointment for a Mohs surgery.

Thursday was the big day. I had to be at the dermatology clinic by 8:30 am. DH dropped me off with my iPad, iPhone, a book and a lunch. I'd been told to bring food and drink because it might take several procedures and could take all day as cells were frozen and analyzed.

So they did the first slice, not too bad. I sat and read for about an hour until the nurse arrived and said another procedure was needed. I'd been sitting on a chair in the exam room and when I stood up, I fell over onto the floor. My foot had gone to sleep and I didn't realize it, so when I put weight on it I had no support. Well, my ankle hurt but I could walk on it. I asked if I could have a Tylenol and the doctor agreed. I'd been off aspirin for 2 weeks, ibuprofen, vitamin e, and alcohol for a week to minimize any bleeding that might occur. At least I could have Tylenol.

It took 5 slices before I was pronounced clear of cancer cells. This was at 5 pm. I could choose an attempted repair of the wound, or I could have a skin graft, which I chose since I hope it will look better. That took another 1 1/2 hours. Then I called Dh to come and get me.

I've left out many details. I was terrified I might have to go to urgent care, but I could still walk on the sore ankle. I do have a sprain, not too bad, but as it turns out I'm supposed to take it easy until I get my stitches out in another week, so I can keep the ankle bandaged, elevated, and with cold packs in the meantime.

So here's my LL Bean hoodie with my Covid hair. I don't have a pullover photo yet.

Next photo taken by DH after I got home after a long, long day at the clinic. Pressure bandages can come off tonight and be replaced by regular bandages.

Today I'm doing much better. My cats are relieved. They were quite distressed yesterday.
