Restyle or Return? Ralph Lauren Smoking Jacket

I got one of these at the Goodwill, seems to be unworn, and no wonder with those lapels (however mine looks SO much cuter IRL

But it fits beautifully and could be fun to wear this winter.

What do you think of those lapels? Is there any redeeming style to them that I've ovelooked?

For $30 I can have them altered to more normal (like in pic 2) and they could be left wide or narrowed.

Or is the whole smoking jacket thing too dated right now?

I love the jacket in principle. But how's the fit? Can we see it on?

Do you think le smoking is dated? Yikes, I thought they were just coming into their own (shows how much I know). If you think the lapels are flattering on you, and it fits, why not wear it as is, in a *devil may care* way. If this was something you paid a high price for years ago, and brought out of storage to wear again, I think it would be the height of chic. Of course, we'll have to see it on you, styled!
