Requesting topper advice.. wedding guest dress

Hi fabbers...l have an evening wedding to attend in mid-summer at a Country Club like wedding venue.

I found this dress at Macys yesterday, in black. Didnt think much when i saw it online, but once i put it on, my mind changed. Quality was great, it has a bit of structure, and the neckline was really flattering.

Here's my dilema... i want a little arm coverage, especially for photos. The tie waist detail makes it kinda tricky. Was thinking of bolero style something... It needs to be lightweight because its summer- but i cant seem to find one that doesnt look dated to me. I have some beautiful wraps, but they seemed a bit much paired with the tie waist.

Does anyone have other ideas? I may keep hunting for a short sleeve dress... i like dark florals... but that is easier said than done!!

The link doesn’t work for me, but going from the picture, I don’t see why you couldn’t use a large scarf draped across your shoulders as a wrap. Are the ones you mention more complicated than that? If you go for short sleeves, you might want to look for some that are angled. But I’m just guessing here, because I don’t know anything about your shape or style.

Perhaps check Hobbs out? They always have lots of short/cropped jackets mean to go with dresses. I have attached one, but they have multiple options.

I would explore a kimono style light weight topper to wear open over the dress.

I agree with Irina. A kimono style topper in a dark floral silk could give you the dark floral and swish. A large scarf worn as a shawl is another idea. A linen rather open knit long cardigan may also work. Nordstrom’s had some a couple of years ago.

I like chewey’s shrug. My first thought was also a kimono style jacket, but there may be some collar competition depending.

I used a wrap at my daughter’s wedding. Sorry I have already posted this dress on a different thread. It helped to be able to take the wrap off later. I had a tiny safety pin in a strategic spot to hold it, then pulled it off later over my head.
I see you wonder if a wrap is too much with the tie waist, but it may be able to cover it…

I've got a dress and a pantsuit similar to that with a tie waist. I wear a white jacket very similar to the Hobbs jacket (except it's from Ann Taylor).

This is a tough one. I echo the others who suggested the kimono type topper.
I looked at a lot of toppers before I found one I liked. But you will find it I am sure!

UPDATE: i've been looking at kimonos but they seem too long or voluminous,. I googled cropped kimonos and didn't find much.
