Request: Arty-T outfits

The layered arty -T is a big look going forward. I think I missed the threads of the lasses in this look - Ana? Nicole? Sarah? Anyone else?

I’m going to blog about the look next week, so if you wouldn’t mind finding those threads for me or posting new looks, I’d be grateful. Also let me know if you’re uncomfortable showing off your look on the blog post. This has to be fun.

I put arty Maya in that look in Manhattan and she rocked it. I have a picture and I’d like to use it unless she objects.

By the way, it’s not a typo. I say "arty" , and not "artsy". People are “arty- farty”, not “artsy-farty” in my language. But feel free to use the word artsy if that’s how you know the word

I am so going to look forward to this Angie! I don't have any arty tees yet hence no photos but I do plan to get a couple and wear them a lot this year. I agree that Maya looked amazing in this look.

You’d rock that look too. Nice for the lab. Cute with Converse and biker jacket – or impeccably tailored jacket. I use to wear the look a lot about 5 years ago.

I was going to wear an arty t outfit today, but then I changed because it's supposed to be lovely outside and I wanted to wear a dress. I will take photos tonight of the outfit I was going to wear.

Angie, when you write the blog, I'd love to hear your age-appropriate thoughts on the look. It seems to work across a lot of ages, perhaps with a few tweaks here and there.

Laura, good quezzie. I suppose a blunder will arise when I don’t encourage sporting the T on its own in public after a certain age. As for keeping it layered after a certain age – I have my 69 year old client in this look. It all depends on your style and whether you can pull it off. If you’re asking me whether you can pull it off, Laura. ABSOLUTELY.

If it does, you can use the photo... already comes with my face covered. This is from sometime last spring. Tee is a petite Tahari shirt I got from Marshall's. Swing jacket by H&M.

I was already wearing this look on our grand day out! I had a black blazer over a printed tshirt from UO (they make some of the best graphic tees). Arty tees are among my favorite layering pieces, but I kept them under wraps because I thought Angie would not approve, hehe.

Angie, you have my permission to use the picture if you want. It would be nice if I could see it and determine if I want my face blocked, but if not it's no biggie. I know we already discussed this before.

Oh my goodness Lee and Nicole! Fabulous outfits! Wow. That’s what I’m talking about. Shiny I think your concept in that pic was spot on too, but it’s hard to identify your top as a T because it’s dark. Perhaps it’s my computer screen?

Oh yes, Maya – you were indeed sporting the look on Convention day. My apologies. The waistcoat over that white T in the H&M changing room was hot.

This is such a fun idea! I have one T from Gap a few years back. It's the only T-shirt I wear to public. I hope to get more idea of how to wear it.

I was feeling kind of rock n' roll, hence the shades. Plus, I took some without the sun glasses, but this is the only one that turned out very well. Thinking about arty t outfits, I've decided a large, abstract print on the front of the t-shirt is probably best for layering, but this "England" tee and my greyhound t-shirt are all I currently have.

I still want to do another outfit that is more preppy/girly with a graphic tee. I'll see if I can get photos tonight, it depends on what kind of mood my photographer is in.

Thank you, Angie. It is a new jacket! I'm really excited. I've been looking for a white jacket to replace that one I got last year on sale from J. Crew. I was never completely happy with how it looked. This new one is from BCBG and it's lightweight cotton/denim twill and has gold buttons (yay!). It also comes in a dark denim version (which I'm considering snagging), and green leather (which Patience got and looks *amazing* in).

What's nice is that it works for pants (layered over a longer top), but is cropped, so it's the perfect length for dresses and skirts, too! Anyway, I'm talking it up a lot, hee hee. It's kind of got a motorcross feel to it, a bit edgy. If any of your clients are looking for something like this, I recommend it. It's a bit pricey, but I just got it a couple of weeks ago and I've already worn mine 3 times. I have to keep myself from wearing it all the time so my other stuff gets to see some action, too.

Ana, I have noticed that jacket too! I have my eye on the denim one. I liked the white one too, but the gold hardware was the deal breaker for me ( and probably the deal maker for you ;). Anyway, you look amazing in it. The green leather one is gorgeous too!

Patience just informed me the jackets are on sale at BCBG! They don't seem to be on sale online, but she was able to get a price adjustment in store on her green jacket. She said they were 50% off plus another 30% off of that price. I am going to check out the denim one tomorrow.
