Just wanted to let you (and anyone else who's interested) know that I got my early 90s jacket back today, and the alterations were an unqualified success. They took the shoulder pads right out (they WERE massive -- like those maxi pads they give you in the hospital after you give birth) and took the shoulders in a bit. Now it fits my shoulders perfectly and doesn't make me look like a linebacker. I wish I'd done this years ago.

I realize this is a bit useless without a picture, but there you go. Esme, if you love your jackets, maybe it's worth fixing the shoulders.
