Replacing buttons on blazer, where to buy sewing notions

I want to replace the buttons on this blazer. Not sure exactly what and am open to suggestions.

But where exactly do I buy them from? I didn’t see anything at Joanns.

Is there a good source of sewing notions that are lead-free?

It's usually impossible to find a matching button. It's why spares are often sewn into the garment or attached with a hang tag. Your best bet is probably to replace all of them. They just need to be the same size as the original. Don't forget buttons on the cuffs if they are there; usually they are the same style, just a smaller size.

I have no idea how to verify if buttons are lead-free.

I would google (or look in the yellow pages of the telephone book if you still get one) under ‘sewing’. Fabric stores usually carry all kinds of bottoms. In some big cities, there are stores that specialize in sewing notions. I’ve also seen loads of buttons at thrift - as if the shop ended up with a retired seamstresses’ stash.

FWIW, I have replaced complete sets of buttons on garments in order to improve the look.

Hmm, I am beginning to see that I do live in a completely different world. Along with the cobblers there are so many sewing and notion shops that also do alterations, where I live.
But etsy is definitely the a good bet.

Several of my favorite button sources locally have closed in the past year. It's really sad, but the local independent fabric stores are disappearing. I would try to find a local sewing shop to check first. Let's try to keep them in business! Yarn shops can have wonderful button selections, too, but usually more arty, less what I would think of for a blazer. Buttons are so hard to buy online, if you are trying to match something!

I found the new buttons for my double-breasted coat at an arts supply shop. I really like Firecracker’s nudge to try to find small, independent shops.

Shevia, I grew up in India where we were surrounded by fabric stores and tailors. I don’t sew but always figured the stores were around. Joanns was full of patterned fleece and quilting stuff with a row of wool!

Firecracker and FI, good idea! Someone suggested looking for a thrifted blazer with interesting buttons. Why must it be so hard?!
