Replacement Chain or Bag Strap

I was reminded by Angie's blog post of a website I found recently that sells replacement handbag straps and chain straps. http://www.mautto.com/category.....idth-chain Do any of you have experience with this company? I have a bag with a guitar strap handle that seems to be a little "too much" for me. I'm thinking about buying a chain handle as a replacement. And I like the idea of being able to convert any bag to a chain handle as an option.

Emily, In the last few days guitar straps have caught my attention. Then it dawned on me you said a guitar strap was a little "too much" for you" and you might replace it. Could I ask what about it makes you feel that way? Wish you would post pics!

I do not have a guitar strap but I am finding them interesting and seems they may be trending. I also agree with you that I like the option to have chain handles on my bags.

Thanks for that website! I just found a Coach bag at Goodwill in great shape, the size and style I've been hoping for but NO strap. This website might be the easiest answer for me.

I like your idea of multiple options for a bag.

Bridgie, The short answer is that I am more comfortable with minimal, rather austere fashion. To me, the wide guitar strap just feels like too much decoration. The straps are WIDE--maybe almost 2" wide--and that feels very exaggerated. In the past year, in an effort to update my bag collection and my fashion, I tried three different bags with guitar strap. I returned two but kept the third, mostly because it was inexpensive and I wanted to try and work through my discomfort with the style. That hasn't happened. However, I can say that the wide strap is very comfortable and does not slip from my shoulder. Angie suggested the guitar strap style as a good alternative if one has a bigger bust (I do) because it doesn't cut so deep between the breasts when worn as a crossbody. I DO find this to be true, but still prefer not to wear the strap as a crossbody. I've appended photos of the two bags I did not keep and a find for the third. I really do not much like the third bag (even minus the guitar strap) but it did occur to me that it might be a good candidate for a chain handle if I wanted to participate in that trend.

Emily, Thank you for responding and sending pics and find of your handbags. Time got away from me. It is very co-incidential that I discovered guitar straps for bags at the same time as the solar eclipse. lol Until Angie's post last week I was not aware of guitar straps on handbags. Then, I became quite intrigued and taking notice when there was a post or pic on the forum. I do think all three you show are very neat. However, I certainly see your point in not wanting to keep them when they are so not your thing!

I have looked at T.J. Maxx, Ross and Target. If I find an inexpensive one I might buy it to introduce myself to them. If I do come up with one to consider I will be asking the forum's opinion before I decide to do anything drastic. Seriously, Emily, Thank you. That was a very sweet and kind thing to do.

Sorry, I have no answer to your original question. I have been looking at the chains you asked about because I also have a bag which needs A chain. This is aside from the guitar strap!

Bridgie, so you're still looking for a guitar strap bag? I have one in my finds that's $50 at one of the two websites in the notes on the find. If you just want a strap (I'm not sure--thought you posted that you'd found a place to get one, but then you seem to still be looking), see Beth Ann's "Guitar Hero" post a few days ago.
