Remove dress tie sash or not?

I have an aversion to tie back dresses in general - they remind me of little girl clothes. I'm thinking of removing the sash/tie/belt on this. It is snug enough in the waist that I don't need the tie for utilitiy purposes. My only concern is the trapunto stitching. It runs only along the front of the waistband and I wonder if it will look odd that it doesn't continue around the back. On the other hand, the straps only have trapunto on the front as well, so maybe it will look okay as a whole?
What say you:

yay - remove the sash
nay - you'll lose the integrity of the silhouette

The stitching doesn't continue to the back either way. I think it'll be fine without it.

Go ahead and snip. It'll feel good.

The silhouette looks fine with the sash untied, so I don't think you'll lose anything. And if you hate it -- reattach it.

I vote yay - I think it will look better with a belt of your choice if you're worried about silhouette!

I'm with you on tie backs and used to tie them in front instead when they were popular. Snip away.

It fits and feels the same to you and you don't like the concept of the tie back sash.
Seems like a no-brainer. About whether it matters about a motif continuing round the back or not, my mother used to say, "Who is going to examine you so closely?"
I wouldn't worry about other people's perfectionism. And many times you don't want
a raised feature of any kind in the back because you don't want to feel it sitting on it
or leaning back against it plus many sweaters people wear are very thin and slinky
and would then show a lot of bumps or whatever.

Good idea to remove the tie waist. I have a few dresses with ties and often find myself wishing the tie wasn't there. It isn't a viable option to remove the tie in many cases, but in your case, it was a good choice. Enjoy lovely and now more comfortable dress!

Good choice. I;m curious, is it obvious where it was cut off? I've removed those little "thread" belt loops they put on some things but never a "real" belt/tie.

I think it will look good either way. if you cut the sahe, you'll need to make sure the chopped edges are sewn down so it looks right. you look awesome in the dress. very nice.

Well, the deed is done! I think it looks fine. I guess if I raised my arms over my head and someone was a foot away from my waist, they might see if they looked closely LOL! Thanks for the votes, I think I have a much more wearable dress now

very cute dress indeed. I was going to suggest wrapping around back then tieing in front like an obi belt. I did this with my target dress because I also don't like the back tie.

Remove it, with the patterning only in the front you lose nothing from the cut!

For dresses that have tie sashes that are more essential to the fit of the dress, I like the way the Academichics have used the ties to belt cardigans or just wrap the ties all the way around the dress like a self-belt. I've started to do this a lot myself.
