Rejected shoes and skirt pockets

I would very much appreciate your views to just to check in with YLF that I was making the right decision on these two pairs of shoes.

The first are heels, which I think would be good weekend heels, but in reality I walk a lot at the weekends and so I need mostly flats, but it does feel a bit silly to not have any weekend heels. In style terms, I think the block heel is a bit heavy as are the cross straps. So they are going back. I think...but I would welcome your views.

The second are Paul Green slides. Lovely colour, gold hardware, good fit. But they make a sound when I walk and I don't think I can live with that.

Then, this skirt, I love, but the fabric is a bit full, so to take the edge off it I am going to have the pockets removed and sewn up. I haven't worn the skirt at all for a long time. It seems too much for work, and so for the weekend with white plimsolls and denim seems more right. At least for now. May be my confidence will come back with wearing it without the pockets.

I think the skirt works well with the denim jacket and plimsols! Yes! I like that combination. That makes it hard to say whether you should take out the pockets of the skirt now.....hmm. I agree about the shoes. I think the heels look only a little too heavy for you and if the Paul Greens make noise, that will distract you, it will be like dripping water, don’t keep them!

A second look at the heels makes me wish that the cross strap started in a slightly more flattering position over your arch. I think that’s the part about the shoe that makes them look too heavy.

Thank you Staysfit. I'm pleased you think the skirt works more casually. On the shoes, thank you - that dripping tap thing is exactly what I am concerned about; and the heels are heavy.

Personally, I love the heels on you and the skirt as-is. Of course, how you feel in them is more important. I do agree that an annoying sound is more than enough reason to return.

The skirt and denim jacket emphasize your tiny waist. I’m a little envious. I like the mules, but if they annoy you, then you won’t wear them.

I also dislike shoes that make sounds! Send them back! When you mention heels for weekend wear, what types of activities are your thinking of? I think those first heels could work with a very dressy look for concerts, etc.

I like the combo of skirt + denim jacket. Really emphasizes your tiny waist.

Yes, I find those heels and straps a bit heavy on your legs here

(with the skirt) but they look great with the pants. Then, I love the skirt as it is here (with the white sneakers in nr 7) and the denim jacket is also great to it!

I m going to be absolutely no help to you whatsoever ever,l really like the shoes and the skirt and am not so keen on the mules!

Love the skirt, am not in love with the dress shoes, the mules should go back if they make funny noises.

Did I say that I love the skirt ? Am mighty jealous of how tiny your waist is! It would be a shame to remove pockets if you don’t really need to - super cute with the jacket and sneaks.

Shoes that make sounds need to go back. The weekend heels do look a bit heavy, especially if you want to wear them with something besides black. I like the skirt and how it shows off your tiny waist. You might consider shortening it just a bit, but still on or below your knees...wherever your sweet spot is for length.

I agree with your choice to send the shoes back. The heels are ok but not great, imho. They look more dressy than casual to my eye. The slides are beautiful but I agree with Joy they can’t be purchased if they’re squeaking. Dealbreaker. The skirt seems like it has great potential, and the muted colour gives it a nice subtlety. Also like Joy said I think shortening it a teensy bit might be good too. Can’t wait to see it after you have it altered!

I agree that the skirt is few as is, but am not crazy about the heels. The other shoes should go back if the make a noise!

I like the slides but if they are noisy it will drive you crazy. The other shoes do seem a bit heavy looking. I like the skirt!

Thank you for confirming that the noise is too much for me and that the shoes look heavy, thank you Lyn67 - it is the word heavy that describes them perfectly. I am relieved to have packed them both up and now I am on my way to the post office to dispatch. Not an exciting photo at all, but A Good Thing!

On the skirt, I think Joy you have a very good point. I am going to have the pockets sewn up and then when I start wearing it again with my white plimsolls I can see how I get on. I am still not confident about my legs (but it is increasing) so may be a shorten later this year might be a good thing. I am glad you like it though and I am pleased you think the denim works with it too. I might think about a wrap cardigan with it or a top that sits directly at my waist. Thank you CardiffGirl, I like the mules too, but the noise is too much. i haven't shown DH, because he would be with you and like them, and then I would be utterly confused! Like the Season, it IS the noise thing! Dripping tap as Staysfit says.

Becky, you made a very valid point. I am rethinking my weekend life, as after a long period of study, I need to revitalise it. So I don't know if I actually do need heels yet. Christina, thank you, I think these are potential alternative options.

Wow. It all looks sooo good. Pity about the heels and mules. Agreed. Onto something that works better for your lifestyle and feet. Gorgeous visually though.

LOVE the skirt with the sneaks and denim jacket. Just so elegant and casually swish. Please keep the skirt. I like the fullness. Keep the pockets! Very fun.
