Red/Oxblood Booties Yay / Nay

Happy Weekend. I'm sorry I haven't been commenting much this weekend, I have had my mum and sister staying

I popped out this afternoon with Master 10 (who had some birthday money to spend) to our local undercover shopping complex.

I came home with two things!

#1 New red/oxblood (?) booties. I prefer a wedge heel, love suede and really wanted a pair that would work equally with pants or skirts.

#2 The red boots I already own. Despite YLF giving the thumps up to wear these with skirts and dresses, I only really like how they look with my bootcut jeans.

#3 Booties with the other item I bought. Navy ponte skinny pants (not a keep or return as I am keeping them :)) These pants are almost exactly the same at the cobalt ones I posted earlier in the week but more than half the price, and from a different store.

#4 Just a side view of the bootie.

Excuse me for turning away from the camera but we had a very busy weekend and i feel (and look) 100 today. lol.

What say you re the booties. There is every chance the pair I already own my find their way to a new home in the near future as I am just not 'feeling' them.

Wah, people are going to forget about me but oh we'll, I'm running off to Hawaii next week. Opinion for you since you're awake. Yay or nay or none of the shoes below? Too lazy to post a full conversation.

Also not important to match navys unless you are wearing a suit IMHO.

It's 6.45 p.m. so Im wide awake lol. Are the shoes for Hawaii? Im rather drawn to the wedge sandal more so than the ballet flat. I think the sandal would serve as a great 'neutral'.

Unfortunately not, shoes that I like in my size are ridiculously hard to find now that I don't want to sacrifice comfort and live in location where my size is more common (5.5). I got measured again and these two shoes were the only shoes they had and they had to order the sandal special for me. I thought I could contemplate them at home due to the generous return policy of Nordstrom. Also with the help of gift cards I miraculously found haha (funny how you lose silly things) they won't arrive until after Hawaii, gah I'm such a terrible procrastinating shopper. I love how you're always so prepared and deliciously dressed!

it's 12:54am, why the hell am I awake??? I blame the coffee I wanted at 3pm!!!

What a shame. So you re technically buying shoes out of season?? I hear you. My plan is to purchase some awesome summer dresses over my winter, your summer, on line so I am better prepared for summer 2013/14. I have so much trouble finding dresses I love that are suitable for our hot summer.

Um not exactly out of season since it's my spring and these are summer shoes just buying them too late to wear in Hawaii. Also I can wear them in California half the year except for I am at work a lot so do I need a pair of wedges like these that I won't get much use out of besides casually? Gah dilemmas of shopping which is why I shop so little, it makes me fearful of wrong decisions!

Deborah, can't give you an answer on the navy but am certainly feeling the love for your new booties. May have to start calling you Queen Bootie. I love the black straight leg ponte pants I bought recently and am considering getting a grey pair too.

I like the booties and with the wedge heel they are more 'you' than the leather ones. My only concern is the toe shape which looks a little stubby to me, similar to the ones you are getting rid of. Maybe it's just the camera angle?
re: matching navies. I have had this issue with brown which is my basic colour. I think as long as the fabrics are different then the colour variations are just fine and in fact they add to the interest of the outfit.

Yes I say keep the new red booties. They look very juicy. And pretty for winter. I'm afraid to say they make the other red ones look a little out of date.

These booties are gorgeous, keep for sure! I think if the navy's are different enough to the eye, then your ok, so they don't look like eyre trying to be matched, but are not quite. Also different textures would work, like with black on black.

Yay from me! Love them. Great replacement for the current leather ones.

And regarding the navy question, my response is, "it depends." The two navys you are wearing work great together. Where two different navys don't work as well is when they are an *almost* match. Then it looks more like a mistake. So I think it's all about looking intentional.

Loving "Undercover Shopping Complex," which, to my American ears, sounds like a shopping center for spies, or a place to shop when you need to hide said shopping for your spouse. I suppose it really means that it's enclosed from the elements --- what we would call the "mall," which of course, isn't really a mall at all, lol.

I love the booties. Very glam.

I'd actually only chiming in to ask every one to keep answering the navy question. I actually have a skirt that became a closet orphan b/c I couldn't find a matching pair of navy tights. For some reason the navy matching thing really bothers me or id like to hear how others view it. A few caveats: I don't think jeans or coats count in the matching requirements.

The booties are brilliant!! But tell me, do you think you'll feel better about wearing them with skirts/ dresses than the others? And if so, why? (This is not meant as a challenge but as a geniune point of curiosity.)

Suz, I don't mind you asking at all. The orginal pair I own are square toed and kind of chunky in a clumsy way. I don't really think they were designed with skirts and dresses in mind. To my way of thinking, the wedge heel adding height and the suede create a dressier aethetic and while they are still a chunky sort of boot, they look more streamlined and modern to me. Im wearing them with a dress today....
