RED Valentino Jacket eBay: Is it worth the price?

Hi, I am new to these forums.
I am here since the Yahoo answers fashion forums have proven fruitless!

I need some advice on whether or not this RED Valentino Jacket on eBay is worth it: considering it has rips, marks and a lot of wear.

The 2 other offers on it are mine by the way, the seller won't go down by much - what do you think?

It may be worth the price, not sure of the original price. However, personally, I wouldn't buy something that wasn't in good condition...the small rips would be a deal breaker for me. Although it is pretty and that is a good label. I think, however, that you can do better.

I am with retailgirl. "Worn" is one thing; small rips are another. I don't know anything about leather repair, so I don't know how much it would cost to get such rips repaired and whether the repair holds up over time. I would be worried that the rips would just get worse. But in answer to your original question, I don't know whether that would be a good price or not.

I'm with Gigi and retailgirl -- I don't know whether that is a fair price, but rips are a deal-breaker for me. It indicates that either the leather is really delicate or the original owner did not take good care of it. Either way, I would pass, but I'm really picky about used clothing.

Omg, thank you to everyone.

I had been obsessing over this jacket for days - logically, I knew it was a bad buy - but the VALENTINO label kept drawing me back in.

I guess I just needed some knowledgeable fashionistas to confirm it for me.

Sorry to create chaos, but those are tiny surface rips. They can be fixed with wood glue. So I'd say it might be worth it. Giant rips that go through more than the surface layer of the leather are a dealbreaker.

Psyche, do you have a leather repair expert in your area? Maybe you could call him and explain the situation. Ask him for a ballpark quote and about how you can expect the jacket to hold up after the repairs IK mentioned. That might help you decide also. If the repair is going to be a substantial amount, the cost of the jacket might become too expensive overall.

Also, another thing to keep in mind...if this jacket is final sale (not sure, didn't check the site), and it doesn't fit you or you decide for whatever reason once you receive it that it's not for you, you will have to resell it, and it might be difficult to resell it with the rips.

Yea, thanks guys - It is really interesting to know that leather can be repaired and that they are only surface rips - I will definitely bear that in mind for the future.

But, I have found a new love! It is a BLACK Valentino leather jacket from the RED collection - it is practically brand new - however the seller is selling it for much less since, funnily enough, there is a repaired tear at the bottom!!

I am soo in love...however it is still a lot of money so I will have to wait, fingers crossed no one snaps it up in the mean time.

Tiny tears aside, the style on the jacket you posted doesn't feel current to me. That alone would be a deal-breaker, and the worn condition would just make things worse. I am glad to hear that you have found a different jacket. I hope things work out with that one!

I think the first one is just not in good enough condition to purchase. It actually looks a bit tired and grotty in the pictures. The black one is amazing and worth your consideration.
