Red Skirt Suit - Too Trendy??

I've been a bit fixated on a red skirt suit for months. I was watching a TV show and one of the characters was wearing a red skirt suit. It was very fitted with a knee length pencil skirt, a slightly cropped very fitted jacket, and was worn stand-alone with nude legs/shoes. Then last month, I saw the pics of Kate Middleton wearing another red skirt suit and my enthusiasm was renewed.

I have always loved a deep raspberry red with black so I could get either the plain red or one more like Kate M's with the black edging if I decide to pursue this idea.

What do you think? Is it too trendy?

I wouldn't think twice about getting my hands on the right one if I found it. I already wore red skirt suit many years ago, my cousin once kindly borrowed me her Max Mara piece for the special occasion (my husband, BF at the time, had masters ceremony and being a new graduate myself with very basic wardrobe I had nothing appropriate and classy enough for the event, so she stepped in).
I've longed for such wardrobe staple ever since.

I love Kate's suit, but don't know how comfy i would be in the workplace with such a bold choice.

I don't think it's trendy at all. A red suit is a classic: I wore one for college interviews in 1981! Get one you love and I bet you'll wear it for years.

Nancy Reagan pops into my head when I see this look, so it definitely doesn't seem trendy. . .

Thanks for the input. I work in an office where many managers wear jeans - and the jeans sometimes look about 10 years old, worn and faded so I already think I stand out to some extent. I am okay with that as long as the look is professional.

When I think of Nancy Reagan, I think OL but then I am only thinking of her in the later years.

Not trendy to my mind, what you're describing sounds quite classic (and fabulous!).

I think I read somewhere that Kate's is a red suit to which she added her own black belt. I imagine you could add something similar or even a length of black grosgrain ribbon, if you were so inclined.

I've been wearing red skirt suits to work for 20 years, so in my mind it's the furthest thing from trendy! I vote "go for it!"
