The semester's over, and, while I'd love to be sleeping, my Dad's recovering from several medical procedures, and I am playing night watchman. Now, as a baby, the only place for the piano was in my nursery, and he played me to sleep many a time. I'm glad to return the favor. So, to stay awake, it's either Doctor Who reruns or YLF!

My Holiday Wardrobe (or enormous capsule) is anchored with red or burgundy, deep purple for Advent, and a bit of sparkle and shine. Purple is getting a post later, so here's a bit more red!

1. What I wore today -- to listen to 4 hours of singing finals. Whew! The skirt is quite old, but has more shaping in the back than the front (so I couldn't taper), and I love its length and color. It will probably not survive another season, but it makes me feel comfy and festive. The sweater has a wide band and a ribbing detail across the shoulders. It also has a metallic thread throughout for subtle shine. I paired it with necklaces-as-tinsel and textured hose (for interest) and suede booties (for more texture). I topped it with a heavy cardi and my grey cloche hat for a 3 1/2 hour drive following the teaching day. This warmer version looked very Great Gatsy does Christmas.

A holiday capsule goal has been to avoid my tall boots as long as weather allows --- there will ample time to tramp about in tall boots!

2. More casual, if less festive. I wore this simple ensemble to teach at home. I am wearing sparkly stud earrings.

3/4. Three versions of my "Christmas/Valentines/Pentecost Sunday/Gaudete Sunday dress." I also wear this with a menswear vest and heeled oxfords outside of holiday season.
