Red or black shoes?

I'm really sad that Natural Comfort went under because their shoes were luxurious as far as comfort went (at least the ones without 3" heels). I want to stock up before they sell out forever.

Here are some shoes I really like:

I love them in red (and they're the only color available in my size on 6pm), but I have so much red in my wardrobe and I wonder if they would be too matchy-matchy with a lot of outfits.

But black shoes in summer? And would that be too boring?

But again, I wear so much teal and turquoise that it might not be practical. They also come in a magenta-ish color and solid black.

I just can't decide. I love the low wedge and the generous memory foam padding in these shoes, and I'm afraid if I don't make up my mind soon, I will miss out forever! My temporary solution is to get one pair in red and wear those with all my teal-heavy outfits, and get the other pair in teal to wear with all my red-heavy outfits. Does that sound good or is there a reason I should consider the black?

I think your red/teal solution is the best. For a black shoe in summer, I really prefer a sandal and not a closed toe shoe. I know some of the ladies don't like black at all in the summer, but I find a black sandal to be useful for some situations.

Wow, those are all such pretty shoes Maya! I like them all a lot. And I like your red/teal idea. It would work pretty well I think. Black would be nice for fall. Heck, I might get those red ones myself

Donna, I also don't mind black sandals in summer. I guess it depends on whether they show more of your foot or more of the shoe. If it's mostly foot, then I don't think it's so bad at all.

He he, I would love to be shoe twins Maya. I might get them later. I have a pair of red wedges but they are not very comfy, they are 2-hours shoes max.

wow, I heart those shoes! I have been looking for more creative pop color shoes (my shoe wardrobe is almost entirely black and brown).

I think your teal and red idea sounds like a good plan. Can't wait to see them in action!

Can you afford all three?

If not , then get the red and teal because you are a colorfu person. And black shoes are much easier to come by than red or teal.

I just found both shoes in black for only $26.99 each, and both of them are in my size! I wish they came in other colors! I might end up getting all 3 after all. It's a big splurge but comfortable shoes are so hard to come by for me, and I have wanted shoes like this for a long time now.

Oh my goodness, these shoes look great, and how wonderful to hear that they are comfortable for you. I would have recommended them in this order: 1) red (not just cause it's my favorite shoe color, really but also because it's such a classic timeless shoe color and goes with most everything; 2) teal because they are very stylish and I think shoes in non-neutral colors are fab; 3) black because you will wear them for years to come even if you don't wear them that often each summer, if that makes sense. Well I'm glad to hear you might get all 3. If something comes along that's comfortable, stylish and at the same time classic, it's totally the right thing to stock up.

I think I have to get them in installments. I haven't worked in a while because of the holidays, sickness, etc, so I really shouldn't get them all at once. I also want some money left over for the YLF convention. I just hope they don't sell out

The reason I wanted to get the black was because it's a color I can wear to interviews in place of the currently very uncomfortable shoes I have, and the slight heel makes them less casual than a completely flat ballet shoe. I know they would probably still be too casual for most job interviews, but in my field and at my age, I think they're perfectly fine.

I wish the shoes were still available in some other colors. Yellow would have been perfect. Then I would just need that and the black shoes. I can't decide how to prioritize!

Maya, I think the black ones would be great interview shoes - definitely not too casual (as long as your pants aren't.) I actually looked at the black ones just now and am considering getting them for the very same reasons - they'd be really versatile and would work great with my "interview pants", which are black with some different color stripes.
Well, I would get at least one pair ASAP. I just looked them up on 6pm and Endless as well and it seems there are few sizes/pairs left since the sales prices are really good. And now that you alerted us YLFers to Natural Comfort going out of business, they might get even more clicks
If the interview shoes are a priority, then I revise my reco above and would suggest getting either the black ones for that purpose, or the red ones which you loved the most, and de-prioritize the teal.

i think you're probably right Antje. I'm going to start looking for a new job soon so I think the black ones are a priority. I think the teal ones will be around for a while to come, so I'll hold out on them. I usually wear skirts to interviews because they just look better on me.

Edit: Wow, I'm glad you sorted that for me Antje. There was only one pair of the black shoes left in my size. I got it with free shipping for $27!

Antje, I actually got them on Amazon. I think they're probably the same shoes as from Endless, since Endless is a part of Amazon and they were available in the same size/colors (same thing with the other shoes). But I think Endless is including the "free" overnight shipping in their price while Amazon does not. I just chose their free super saver shipping.

I didn't link directly to them because I didn't want anyone else to buy them before I got a chance :p

I haven't decided what color to get. It just occurred to me now that I only have one or two jeans I can wear these with since most of mine are hemmed for flat flats. So it might not make sense to get all 3. I think I will have to go through my wardrobe and analyze how much use I would get out of each. I wish I didn't already have so much of both colors. I think I am more drawn to the teal, simply because they are more unique and the color would probably not be as easy to come by. I actually already have some similar red shoes already, but they don't stay on my foot. If I could find a way to make that happen, teal would win hands down.

Maya, those heels are quite low--they may not disturb your PPL for pants hemmed for flats.

I love the shoes you’ve posted and would wear all of them myself, Maya. I'm an absolute sucker for that heel height.

Quezzie - have you physically tried these styles on? I’ve tried two of the styles on. Also, are they supposed to be 2-4 hour shoes? Before I chime in further, perhaps you can help me out with answers.

Sounds like you weren't too thrilled with them Angie. I have not tried these on specifically, but I have other NC shoes that are comfortable.

I don't think I'm going to find any cute 8 hour shoes for summer. I am pretty sure now that whatever 8 hour shoes I get are going to be schlumpy, bulky, and old ladyish. So with that in mind, I would probably just be wearing these to work most of the time.

I too like Natural Comfort shoes. Maya, here was my verdict:

o The red shoes had that wretched binding thing going which cut into my skin, so no go on that one
o The black shoes were GREAT but I did not need another pair of black shoes at the time, so I passed
o The teal shoes I have not tried

So these shoes were regular in width and worked for my foot. But I know you need a wider toe box than I do – are you going to order these in wide?

They do not come in wide. I always order medium shoes and stretch them (I bought a shoe stretcher and shoe stretch liquid). Restricting myself to wide widths only isn't really helpful. Most of them flap off my heel the way the Swanns did. My foot is only wide in the front.

I bought the black ones, and based on your review I guess I will go for the teal ones (which I was leaning towards anyway). I'll just try to avoid wearing my teal tops with them.

That’s good news, Maya. I did not know that stretching regular shoes worked. I absolutely remember that your foot is a little inverted triangle (small delicate heel with wider toe area). I’m glad you ordered the black shoes. I wear black shoes in Summer a lot more than I thought I would. It’s especially great with white tops, and I know you like white tops. The teal pair is funky. Love! I think they are the same style as the black.

I’m holding thumbs. I hope, hope, hope that these do enough distance. Please keep us posted.

I actually use a high heel shoe stretcher in my flats. That way I don't end up stretching the heel at the same time as the toe box. They also come with different plugs to put pressure on different areas. It helps somewhat. Still not perfect. My problem has much to do with the shape of my very flat foot, but you'll see that in a few weeks.

I didn't know one could stretch only the front part of the shoe. I will definitely look into this.

Lena, I had a regular shoe stretcher for flats but that stretched out the whole shoe, so I had to stop using it. Then I got a high heel stretcher because that way the heel is too high to fit into the shoe properly. That isn't how you're supposed to use it, obviously, but it works for me.

Sounds like I have a similar shoe stretcher as Maya's - I can put the plug in right where my bunion is. The shoe stretcher works okay - it's not perfect. For me, it depends on the shoe. One thing for sure: it works best on real leather uppers. It won't work at all on synthetic shoes - they seem to bounce right back after being stretched.

Maya, I am late but if the black shoes work out for you, I'd definetly go for the teal. They are adorable. I think you'd be surprised what they will go with - the teal would work with a teal top if you are wearing jeans, I think. As long as your other accessories (belt, purse, etc) are in a different color. And the teal shoes also have gold and navy (or is that black?). I think they are really fun - particularly with that gold band at the top.
