Red lace dress for daytime?

Can a red lace sheath dress be worn during the day? If the lace is a cotton blend and the pattern is geometric would it be better? I want to avoid the bridal/prom look. Here are some styles I have in mind. Not sure if it matters, but last time I wore a prom dress it was 20 yrs ago.

What do you think? I really like the first one (minus the little bows)

I think long sleeves is a lot of lace for day, and I'm not crazy about the 3/4 sleeves. The cap sleeved (#1) is cute, and I can see the sleeveless (I like #4 the best) worn with a shrunken cardi! Paired with ballet flats and a great belt it would certainly be a fab daytime look....

I agree that the shorter sleeves is a better way to go for non-formal environments.

What kind of occasion are you talking about? If this was for a wedding or reception, perhaps a symphony matinee, go for it. I wouldn't wear this to work, or for more casual daytime events such as festivals or baby showers.

I like #1 the best.

along the same lines of cjh, I was going to ask where you're going. I'm not sure I'd wear red lace to the office, but it can definitely work for lunch out with the girls. I'd dress it down with a denim jacket and flats...either flat sandals or oxfords depending on the weather.

I love daytime lace, so I'd definitely wear a red lace dress during the day. I really like the first dress (photo #1). The pencil skirt keeps it from looking bridal or like a prom-dress. What about wearing a boyfriend cardigan or a denim jacket over it? That would make it a bit more casual.

I like the first dress and the ideas for dressing it down. I think it could work as long as you don't plan to wear to a conservative office.

I don't really have a specific event to wear it although I was thinking that I could wear it as a regular summer dress or for get together with friends' houses and such. I like to pair it a jean jacket or a shawl if it gets chilly. It is just that I see quite a few lace or lace appliques on summer dresses and was wondering if it can be worn casually. I know it depends on the content of the lace so I'm hoping that cotton lace would be more summery instead of the floral chantilly lace.

I saw a red eyelet dress on a lady at the grocery store a while back and it got me thinking about it. Since I prefer lace over eyelet I wanted to get your opinions.
