Red loves you, Suz! That jacket is fantastic and looks great on you. You are so stylish! What kind of shoes are you looking for?

You look wonderful Suz and good luck for your trip!!

Suz, your red jacket is stunning on you! I am glad to hear that it is comfortable, too. Your entire outfit looks great, even the shoes you retrieved for the trip. Beautiful and current. Have a great trip!

Fantastic outfit, love the jacket, super love the jeans.

Also - I feel you with the shoes . We’ve all been in *that* situation before , wishing we had something else on . You and I are alike in needing shoes to be current and even ahead of the game .

You are rocking the jacket and wear culottes beautifully. I am with you on craving up-to- date shoes in great condition. They are make or break for my outfits. Everyone gets caught there sometimes. Not so obvious in your photos, though,

Red jacket is fabulous! You just need silver sandals to feel perfect!

More love for this outfit. You need a fab lightweight red jacket to extend the season for the outfit.

The jacket is beautiful on you and fits you perfectly. I bet it will dress down nicely as well.

Beautiful jacket. Looks great on you.

Gorgeous, so good that you felt very at ease in it.

Thanks, everyone, for your kind comments. I couldn't come back yesterday as I was travelling.

Those sandals have been complete workhorses but they're looking tired in person, and LisaP and Eliza are right -- I really like to have current footwear. Sadly, a lot of the most current styles won't work for my own feet, so my hunt may be a long one. I'd love to have a red pair, Cardiff Girl! That's been a HEWI, actually, for a few seasons.

Unfrumped, I think I just didn't have enough occasions to wear the jacket before -- it's a bit too dressy for my ordinary life, but for going to the city and giving a presentation, excellent. Plus, the weather. It was the perfect temperature to wear this jacket yesterday as both outdoor topper and indoors.

Roxanna, that top is not J. Crew but Land's End!! LisaP was right (and has a good memory). It is part of a twinset that I rescued from my mother's things after she died. I had bought it for her and she looked amazing in it! I loved it and it makes me remember her, so I decided I'd keep it and wear it myself.

What a cool outfit!

Oh, so nice! That jacket is fantastic on you. My best wishes for the shoe hunt.

So , I wore my red jacket today for the first time , with a mid-grey cami and black ponte culottes. It was fine, but I didn't love it - I think it was the proportions with the culottes, which I find hard to wear without feeling short and fat (i need a longer third piece, not this fairly short jacket) . The jacket was indeed comfortable, but I'm not sure it was a wise buy, and the sleeves are also too long, which also annoyed me. Oh well. Chalking it up to a buying error....

Lisa, good for you, for wearing it, and I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. But thank you for alerting me to it. Between you and Mr. Suz and more than 50% off, it was a sure buy for me!

My sleeves are not too long -- they are just right (and I have short arms!) But, because I got warm, I unbuttoned the cuffs and turned them back and that worked. Obviously a less pristine look, but I always scrunch or roll sleeves on jackets, so for me it feels more natural than full length.

Re the culottes -- it is partly an "eye needs to adjust" thing, I suspect. When I put mine on I sometimes feel like that, and I definitely won't wear mine with flats. But the more I wear them, the less I feel that way.

I usually buy petite jackets and coats at BR - they simply fit better. This one was a regular size- should have paid more attention . Oh well.

Love the outfit, Suz! A jacket in a vibrant color is such a game changer! I hear you on the shoes -- I have a very small budget and I'm focusing on footwear particularly. Fortunately, my hight volume feet will work pretty well with the new styles -- it's mostly just that the proportions with the pants need to change, too!

Stunning jacket! You had to be best dressed on the train for sure. Safe travels!

I really love this jacket on you! And I love the idea of a forced wear through limited packing. I’ve done that and it works (as long as I do t use it as an excuse to shop in a new city!).

Re: the shoes. I totally get the need to bin these because they are worn. My nude suede booties looked awful after one year of hard wear and out they went. But it does make me sad that this shape is not so current. I just packed a black pair - exactly like this - for today’s trip. I love how they fit, and I can’t wear mules. Even if mules will stay on I don’t like how they feel (just returned a pair of Everlane mules like that). Am I doomed to wear outdated footwear this summer?

Suz, first I am dazzled. And also I am amazed. The red jacket takes life on your frame. It's such a good look on you. I would never have guessed it could become alive this once on. How clever to have paired it with this printed top - by the way LOOOOOVE that print, so refined, so chic, so distinguished. Then, I am amazed at how well the cropped wide pants fit you, it is simply exquisite. You are very inspiring. Thank you!
About the shoes: I am most interested in what you find. You know we have similar features and I am homologous to you in my casual heeled nude summer footwear journey (lol). Like you, I am on the look out and haven't found anything that I could imagine becoming a workhorse in that category, yet I really feel many outfits calls for this type of footwear.

That red is so good on you!

The gorgeous red jacket looks perfect on you and really is the hero of this outfit. And your blouse is beautiful.

I'm so glad the jacket is working out for your travels. I think it was pretty brilliant to lock yourself up with that jacket for the duration and see what happened--looks like a winner after all! Something to keep in mind for other pieces that may function best outside our ordinary lives.

Stunning as usual.
Have you thought about dying the shoes? That might make you feel a bit better about them til you can find a replacement.
