My hair has calmed down significantly in the past two days - just like you all said it would (and like I knew it would too - just forgot). I rather like the color now - it's pretty close, really, to the burgundy I was going for.
And it makes me laugh, because I just posted saying I was hoping to soften up my color palette. Then I pull a stunt like this, that seems to force me in to stronger colors. Oh well (and perhaps I'm mistaken about the stronger colors - not sure).
Anyway, today I took advantage of my kids being rather autonomous in school to try on something of every color I own. I'll spare you all the pics and only post 23, haha :). Here's a sampling in a rainbow of tops that I own. How do the colors look with my new hair color?
Reds:
#1 and #2 - yesterday - my hair was still brighter then, but I wanted to try out Angies "red hair with red" idea. And I actually liked it.
#3 burgundy. I'm shocked how close it is to my hair color. This used to be one of my very best colors. Is it still?
#4 hot pink and sparkly. It suddenly feels over the top.
#5 blush (too pale now? I think perhaps it needs a dark color collared shirt under it to provide contrast).
Orange:
#6-7 This color never did look that great on me. I don't really think the hair improved it. If this wasn't one of my warmest cashmere sweaters, it would have been purged already. Probably time to pass it on.
Yellow:
#8 Actually I own no yellow. This cream colored sweater was the closest - and while I'm not sure the color is really doing me favors, I still kinda like it.
Green:
#9 Olive from this morning
#10 a "sweet" green scarf. I'm not sure why this shade of green looks sweet to me, nor what it is about it that makes it look sweet, but to me it looks sweet - the opposite of sour green.
#11 a greyed out mint that I really like as a color, but I'm not sure is really a great on me as I hoped.
Blue:
#12 teal - I know it looks more blue in the picture - it's teal IRL.
#13 chambray blue - but from when my hair was super bright.
#14 A bright aqua. So bright that I've never worn it. I'm still not sure it's a flattering color...
#15 More of a sapphire - it's been a long time since I wore this one too - I like the color, but the cobalt felt too bright this winter. Perhaps not any more?
#16 Navy - a color I still like
Purple:
#17 and #18 - two shades of purple (I have two other purple sweaters in addition to this, and a hoodie too. Too many purple winter tops!)
Brown:
#19 - it was a pretty decent color on my before - I think it might be even better now.
#20 - tan - I think it still needs a contrasting collar under it - too close to my skin tone.
Grayscale:
#21 black - I'm pleasantly surprised to think that it still works okay
#22 white - yikes! This does NOT work on me any more. I'm going to have to come up with the right make up or scarf to work with my white work shirt for an upcoming conference
#23 gray - I'm surprised here too - this gray worked well on me before, I thought. But I'm not sure I like it on me any more.
Okay you're a saint if you're still reading - is any of my analysis here way off base? Which of these colors are still good bets? (I wouldn't have had them in my closet if I didn't think they were pretty okay colors on me with the brown hair)
