Red bag: I want you! - YouLookFab Forum

Hey gals,

I've been looking for a red bag for what it seems an eternity. So I decided to outsource and ask whether any of you has seen a nice red bag online or have one laying around on your closets that you wish to sell.

I have a few requirements for this bag:
- It MUST fit a Macbook 13", which translates as... it has to be at least 32,5 cm x 22,7 cm (12,7 inches x 8,9 inches).
- It SHOULDN'T be much bigger THAN a Macbook. As a petite, a huge 40 cm hobo just carries me around and looks anything but stylish.
- It CAN'T be burgundy, as I don't like the color nor have shoes that are so dark a hue of red.
- I'm looking for a bag in a red hue that will fit these Aldo booties. I got them almost 2 years ago, but despite loving them, they get very little wear due me not having a bag that goes with them. (Yeah, yeah, I know shoes and bags don't need to match, but in this regard I'm very, very old school.) It doesn't need to be that exact red - a near enough would satisfy me too.

As a strict high-street gal, I also don't wish to pay more than 40-45 euros for this bag.

The brands which come to mind and which may seem to fit your style from what my impressions of it are:
Oasis and Next (UK brands, but ship internationally)
Hallhuber (you may know this brand already, it was new to me when I moved to Germany)

Both UK brands are high street and should fit within your budget.

Hallhuber's bags tend to be a tiny bit more expensive and I don't recall seeing a strong red in their collection yet, but you never know.

How do you want to carry it? And how dressy does it need to be? Reisenthel has a sporty red bag with laptop compartement that is in your budget and seems to fit size wise:

Meanwhile, be sure to check out Etsy. There were some interesting options there, last time I was on the hunt, though I don't know about red.

Not sure what you're budget is but you could try the Marc Jacobs "Flipping Out" tote. Although you may consider it too big for your needs. It has both a detachable shoulder strap as well as top handles, which is what I love about mine (although I needed something to haul around a 15 inch MacBook along with other paperwork and purse stuff). That, and it's available in a gorgeous lipstick red color (that would totally rock with those booties).

The quality is top-notch. New it's around $500-$600 but you can snag it for way less on some of the designer resale sites or ebay (I got mine at shop-hers.com for $250, which I thought was a good investment. I have several MJ bags I've owned for years, and while they may seem pricey, the leather quality and hardware construction is very good so they hold up really well over time and I carry them often (so cost per wear is low and quality is high!)

I'm petite as well. It's on the edge of being too big for me but I don't really mind (or care) because of the structured shape I think it still works and it's versatile enough in shape and color that it goes with either more professional attire or casual. I wore mine into the office last week with a super casual outfit (my office is so casual it makes casual days at most offices look like full on business attire). I've added a photo so you can see it proportionately to someone who is vertically challenged (I'm 4 ft 11.5 inches).

Good luck with the hunt! I know what it's like to be searching for just the right thing in a particular size and color so don't settle for anything less than *exactly* what you are looking for or you will end up disappointed in the long run (and when you finally do come across it, snap it up so you don't end up later regretting not buying it)!
