If you have old sport shoes that have seen better days, old socks with holes, or orphan socks that have lost their pair, don't toss them into a bin where they will ultimately end up in a landfilll, why not recycle them. I recently read that a pair of sport shoes can take 1000 years to decompose! For socks only, you can mail them to Zkano where they will be recycled into new textiles.

For those old sport shoes, you can take them to a Nike Reuse-a-Shoe Store. Nike has been taking the materials from old sneakers and recycling them.
