Hi Wise Ones:)

I wonder if your collective wisdom can help. I'm not happy with any number of concealers I have tried and I wonder if you might have any recommendations.

I have not so much dark circles as much as i have just a small area under each eye that is often darkened. This is particularly noticeable when I am tired but even if I'm not I still notice it.

My current concealer just isn't working. I am quite pale skinned and I have some very fine lines under my eyes so I don't want anything heavy that cakes onto the skin as it will then make my skin look dry and exaggerate the lines. So I'm after something light (in texture as well as color) that will provide total coverage.

Does anyone know of such a miracle product?

YVES SAINT LAURENT - Touche Éclat

I've tried them all & this is well worth the price - ask the sales person to put it on one eye & go outside to see it in daylight. I have really fine skin so most concealers look way too heavy on me, this is the best imo. I use one coat but you can layer if you need more coverage.

I second that! I have a very dark mole on my leg that I prefer to hide in Summer when wearing skirts, and I use this one for that. Works every time, and it looks very natural on the skin.

This one is always recommended by Lisa Eldridge (professional high-end make-up artist with a blog) and I think it's significantly cheaper. I haven't tried it.

I have found both the one from Annayake and from T. LeClerc to be very good. I am probably the only person on the planet who doesn't like the YSL one. It didn't sit on my skin well and made me look dried out.

I happen to own that one, too, and while it is more fluid and transparent, I really like it. My only issue with it is to find the correct shade, I seem to fall between two. For covering up dark shades under eyes, I think it is very suitable.

I have they YSL Touche Eclat, and must say it's a nice brightener, but does not cover anything dark. IMO it's much too thin to be a concealer. I have been using a tube of Cle de Peau concealer which works really well. Also very expensive, but I've had the tube over a year now. It's got a cult following, much like the Touche Eclat. Concealer is about the only thing I use these days, so if you find something perfect, let me know!

I haven't tried them but I've heard Bobbi Brown, and Laura Mercer make good concealers too.

I have used the YSL Touche Eclat and it is excellent. Though my favourite is a very similar product Givenchy Mister Light. If I could only choose one product to keep in my entire makeup bag, that would be it. I've converted many a friend and we hoard them like crazy because you can't buy them locally.

Another enthusiastic vote for YSL Touch Eclat! It is simply amazing, and now it comes in a wider variety of colors.

YSL is a good one as far sephora reviews, magazines, make up artest are raving but i will tell u that i found out that bag of green teas in you eyes help u a lot it's cheap and it works ...I love natural secrets before any make up! UPDATE HAVE TO BE COLD!!!

I don't use foundation, but concealer is my best friend because I have inherited dark circles under my eyes -- always there, regardless of what I do; the whole family has transparent skin like that.

I actually use a very inexpensive concealer:

I get it in the cool super-fair 1/2 colour but go to the neutral in the summer when I get a bit of sun.

I will be interested now to try the YSL and the Givenchy to compare. What I like about this one (I apply with a finger, not the brush) is that it is really quite blendable yet stays put pretty well. It is sheer but seems to cover better than some much thicker formulations I found in the past.

I used to use the Dior version of the touche eclat and like it. My new fave that is even better about not showing off my lines is the Giorgio Armani Maestro eraser concealer. It's liquid, I just use a tiny bit and I suspect the tube will last six to nine months if not longer. Which is important because it's expensive!

It depends on what you're trying to cover.
Touche Eclat is really nice for brightening undereye circles, but if you want real coverage, I highly recommend MAC Studio Finish concealer. It's the one product that I feel like I couldn't live without.

I'm another who hasn't had good luck with the YSL. It just doesn't have enough coverage for me. I like MAC Pro Longwear quite a bit, and I just bought Clinique All About Eyes concealer.

I love YSL Touch Eclat but really just over another concealer or foundation - it doesn't have coverage but it does blur out the circles. As a cheaper alternative I stumbled on Rimmel Wake Me Up and it is doing the job at much less cost. Seems to blend nicely like the YSL does.
The line MakeUpForever has a great undereye concealer in a tube if you can access that in Australia. A little bit of highlighter blended into the concealer.

I have puffy eyes but have tried everything and nothing works. In my search I've tried 2 that sound like they might work for your needs:
The Balm Time Balm anti-wrinkle concealer. It is in in a pot and you pat it on, a paste-like consistency.
Amazing Cosmetics concealer is in a tube and more liquid, but great coverage as well.

Ladies, thank you so much. I will now compile a list and start sampling what I can. I am definitely looking for coverage. I will check today what brands my local Myer Store is carrying and start there. I would like to be dark circle free for this wedding that's coming up:)

Update for you. Im a woman on a mission, as I look like a racoon today!

YSL is not available in our Myer store here in Bendigo, so haven't been able to check that out yet. I will have to do that next time Im in Melbourne. Same with MAC I do want to try both on these based on your comments.

I did get a sample of an Estee Lauder product to try tomorrow.

AND the SA for Clinique applied the Air Brush Concealer, and i could not believe the difference!! Looked amazing in the store mirror and also in my car mirror in day light. Not as great in my office bathroom mirror but I really think that might be a lighting thing as I NEVER look good in that room lol. I also want to see how it looks in my mirror at home. But for now, it is light, not gluggy and the coverage is amazing. It's $40.00 and if it's as good as it seems, well worth it.

I will try the Estee Lauder product tomorrow but I have a feeling judging by it's texture that it's not going to be as good.

I haven't yet located the Loreal one but will look at that also as at $25.00 that's incredibly affordable.

Also want to try the Rimmel one, it's available in our supermarket and very cost effective.

Thanks again for the recommendations, it has saved me so much time and energy.

I am so glad you asked, I always wonder what concealer to try. I now YSL is highly recommended but it never worked on my dark circles.

I'll be making this thread a favourite Deb, as I also have undereye circles. If DD5 heroically refrains from waking me up in the morning, she likes to point it out by mentioning that my undereyes are not as dark as usual, and it is all down to her!

I use the Clinique one Scarlett recommends. It blends beautifully with your skin and its my favorite to date.
