Recent kohls finds and seldom shopped stores

I've never been a big kohls shopper but found two nice pieces there recently. Leave no retail stone unturned as YLF says.

First, a JLo faux leather vest. I had been looking for a light jacket (looking at you, Danier!) but did prove the last year or two that vests work well in my climate. So I jumped on this when I saw it and it fit well. I got the Bellatrix black drape vest from NAS that kari got but returned it bc I wasn't in love. Could be the amount and type of drape, I suspect. I think this vest has the more angular drape Angie speaks of. Anyway, I love it and can't wait to put it to use.

Second, found a triangle print (forgot who was looking lately but I recall a post) super soft sweatshirt. This is a departure for me. First it is cream. I have little to no solid cream tops but want to add lightness for fall and winter. Second it is solid. But I like the texture and pattern. Will look great with denim and black bottoms. Excited as it's super comfy and I sized up for fluidity.

Have you found anything lately at a retailer you don't normally shop?

Nice! I find that Kohl's can be really time consuming to shop but it does have some real gems.

Hmm, I bought a pair of Keds for 15 bucks the other week from the no name DSW knockoff a few towns over, does that count?

I do like the vest! I hope it fills the wardrobe hole for the leather jacket...you've been looking for one for a long time!

I was just at Kohl's today but struck out. I was looking for a leather belt, but would you believe that there were no 100% leather belts in the entire store? I looked both in women's and men's—even in boy's. I feel like Kohl's has really fallen off in quality. Even Walmart has a few 100% leather belts, lol!

Funny. I just found a white belt at tjmaxx made of all leather. $12.99 usd. Snatched it right up!!

I never really found much at kohls before. I did see some nicer things in the Vera wang section but sizes were picked over. I found the vest first then the sweatshirt later. I'm so excited about both pieces though to be honest I don't think it will become one of my go-to shops. I do seem to covet BethAnns finds when she posts WIWs from kohls.

Hmm, I should have hit TJ Maxx too, which isn't far from Kohl's. I thought of it after the fact. I did run over to Burlington Coat Factory, which was a huge mistake. I think they have all of Kohl's leftovers, ha ha!

I do think that the better stuff at Kohl's is VW. I have some leggings and also a nightshirt that are her label. I'll have to keep that in mind next time I go in—head straight for Vera!

Kohl's has some nice things,
V Wang is good. the JLo jeans has a surprisingly wide size selection but I have not tried them on to check to see if they fit me.
Chaps dresses are copies of Lauren dresses at much cheaper prices.

I actually lurve Kohls. I used to shop there lots, but I always came out with armfuls of clothes and so now I tend to avoid it!

Kind of funny -- I was in Kohl's recently for the first time in ages and found two tops I really like. It looked like they had some cute shoes too.

Fab finds, especially the vest. I also like JLo jeans there, should you ever be in the market. If you find a pair you love though, duplicate. They only last about a year or so with regular wear. But you can regularly get them for around $25. I was wearing mine once a week or so, bringing my CPW down to about $0.50 a wear by the time they had to go. In general I find the JLo line very flattering to curvy women. My sister has had some luck with the Vera Wang line, but she is a bit more slim rectangle.

Kohls can be very hit or miss. They carry Carter's and Osh Kosh B'gosh for babies and toddlers, and I have had good luck with both brands.

I have had almost no luck with accessories there, but then I look for leather. If you like vegan products, they are a nice option as they carry a lot of the latest styles in vegan.

I do most of my shopping there online as the store is just too overwhelming. You can return any online purchase to the brick and mortar store. I have never had an issue with it. But then, when I am returning, I have a toddler in tow . . .

Nice finds. I rarely shop Kohl's because it is time consuming (I hadn't really thought about that until Laura said that above...great descriptor.). Our local stores always seem disorganized and merchandise is stacked in heaps, dressing rooms are disheveled, etc. I never set out deliberately for kohl's but may drop in if I'm nearby one of their stores. I do have luck there with things like running gear (pants, sports bras, socks) and the occasional odd piece. It's just not on my radar screen because their design zeitgeist and mine are not in synch. Interestingly, I find many more things that I like at Target.

Yes, it had been years since I shopped Mango, but I bought a drapey white crossover top there at the start of the summer and it has gotten more wear than any other wardrobe item this summer. It came out for my sister's wedding (where she asked, "Is that Helmut Lang?"), for the closing on my house, and quite a bit in between.

I have a bad habit of borrowing confidence from higher-end labels, so it's always good to be reminded that lower-end items can be just as fab.

I shop Kohl's for basics like Ts, denim bottoms, workout gear and name-brand shoes. Their prices are reasonable and their in-store clearance racks can have excellent values -- PLUS up to 30% off during some months for credit card customers. On top of that they have an excellent return policy, and they have been remodeling their stores for energy efficiency. As always keep an eye on their quality, but I found a favorite leather belt there a couple years ago, I guess it depends on the current fashion mix.

I've found that Kohls does a particularly great job of styling and fit for sizes 12 to 16.

I have found a few gems at Kohls over the years. Its in the same parking lot as my local Target so its convenient to stop in and browse when I have some spare time while out running errands. But I doubt I would make a special trip for it. Its big and overwhelming and most days the sizes are really picked over. That vest is super cute. I have noticed that the JLo line has some nice items. And although I am attracted to the VW stuff...the fit is off for me. But I won't discount the store 100%..there are enough gems to keep it on my radar.

Love that vest. It's funny, I find a lot of things for my mom at Kohl's but I never seem to buy anything for myself there.

I found curvy bootcut Levis at Kohls. I really like them. I was looking for the highly recommended JLo jeans but couldn't find them. I was very frustrated by the store. There seemed to be no one to help me. I had to go through huge piles of jeans to find the pair I bought. I would have bought more but apparently they only had one pair in my size.

I've bought loungewear for my 90 year old mother. They were attractive, in nice colors and comfortable for her.

I've also taken my CASA kids shopping there. For teens, the clothes were cute. I thought some things, particularly shoes, were low quality, though.

JAileen, I had to laugh at your comment that there was no one to help me. I don't know if all Kohl's are like that, but mine sure is! I swear that I could be lying bleeding in the middle of the store on the floor and there would be no one to help me. I think they have five employees total, three of which are at the cash registers and two of which are on break. Ha ha.
