I like the bag and I like the bag shape. It should have good longevity. I carried my Kate Spade satchel most of this week and Angie commented that she has one like it that she's carried forever. It's a style that has good presence now. BTW, mine has rolled handles and it doesn't bug me in the slightest. I think most satchels do. However, Von is right to point it out because you can feel rolled handles. Whether you can feel them and the bother you (Von) or you can feel them and they don't bother you in the slightest (me) is personal, but could affect your happiness factor.
For color, I'd make a decision based on how big an investment this bag is for you, how long you want to carry it and if you have a specific need you are filling. If this is a big investment, then I vote for a basic black. It will have the longest longevity and go with the most winter items. Also, you hair is dark, so black is a good natural bookend, which means more style longevity and more ability to wear it harmoniously with outfits.
How long you want to carry it...that's a big one. Black is going to be easiest to cover up wear on. A caramel or camel bag is lovely, but it is going to show dirt faster. That lovely cranberry or fuchsia? It is going to be bad. It will show dirt and you won't be able to cover up scratches with dye if need be. Coach says that their leather is glove dyed, so dyed all the way through and suggests that means you'll never have to touch it up with color. Not entirely true. Only like 75% true about no touch ups.
Specific need? Is what you are really looking for a great bag to elevate your style and give you a color boost? Will you tie this color into your jackets with a scarf that you'll always wear in a pattern or color that coordinates with it? In that case, as long as this isn't a huge investment purse, then cranberry could be fun.
