Raw-edge hem on Vince Camuto midis

I know some of you own the Vince Camuto midi tube skirts - I am working on my business casual capsule and just bought two of them - one black, and one lace print.

These skirts have a "raw edge hem" and I'm not sure if this is appropriate for business causal. I don't mind it so much on the lace print one because the pattern sort of hides it, but on the black one I think it looks a little jagged and messy, therefore casual.

Thoughts? Do you think I could have a seamstress put a little "real" hem in it without losing too much length?

I do. And have clients wearing these skirts in business casual settings already. Of course, my executive clients need to wear clothing that is more formal.

I agree that it's fine for business casual. I'm fairly sure I could have worn the VC midi to The Bank if I dressed it up, and we were much more corporate.

Marianna, I think it would be fine. Having said that, my own had to be shortened (still to midi length, but a slightly shorter midi proportionate to my shorter height) and the seamstress chose to hem them rather than take them up at the waist -- without consulting me! (I had actually asked her to do it the other way). Fortunately, it doesn't seem to have ruined the skirts, so you could always finish it off it it bothers you.

I also need to find some LONG straight leg dress pants... all the pants in my size are ankle length and/or bootcut. Because I don't wear heels, I prefer straight leg slacks. I might order some Ann Taylor slacks and see how they are.

I have never worked in a business casual office and I am so exited... and I feel like I need so many new pieces to make my wardrobe work! I plan to go downtown next week and walk around Michigan Ave and see what I can find. Wish I had the YLF team with me.

My VC skirts are cut with a pretty clean edge. I wear them very often to work, and so does another person in my department who has a very similar style to mine (we both have the same VC skirts and Bobeau peplum tops.) I don't think that the raw edge is obvious at all unless you are VERY close, so I wonder if perhaps yours was mistakenly cut more jagged than it was supposed to be.

If the edge of yours is a little bit jagged you can just take a pair of very sharp scissors and even it out yourself.
I like the raw hems because it's so easy to shorten them if you want. Snip snip and you're done!

They are my go-to skirts for work these days! I have one in black, one in brown, and one that is a small geometric pattern in mint and navy.

Have you also checked out the Leith tube skirts? Those are very popular 'round the office as well these day. (-:
