Rate flipflops vs Birkies vs clogs

This was inspired by CocoLion's post. I am referring to standard issue Birkenstocks and zoris (flipflops) a cut or two above the super cheap kind.

I have all three, but my Birkenstocks currently hurt my feet so I don't wear them and I should get rid of them. Same with my $65 flipflops that have some type of rating from the Podiatric Association but are ugly and now uncomfortable to boot but I will keep them as shower and beachwear. I like the height, heel shape and funkiness of my Danskos, and their scale works with my chunky legs.

My rating scale of the three:
Clogs -- most stylish, but some brands are undeniably frumpy
Flipflops -- intermediate but can fall according to the style
Birkies -- Classics IMHO rank at the bottom, but some styles are funky enough to rise at least to the middle

Another post I missed. I like them in this order, zori, clogs, Birkies. I will add that I really like my new Fit Flops. They are uber comfy but are kind of bulky looking.

Nice that you can wear clogs and Birks. You have to have nice shapely calves to carry those off.

I wear my birks as house shoes every day. They are like taking my feet to the spa and because of them, I can wear cuter shoes the rest of the time.

I wear Fitflops for dog-walking. They are comfortable in warmer weather, but not stylish in any way!
I haven't tried the others you mention.

The only one of these that I could conceivably wear for comfort are the Danskos, and probably not even those would be comfortable on me. So I am praying that none become super fashionable all of a sudden again, because if so, that is a trend I'll have to sit out!

I think I'd agree with your ordering, personally.

Hee, Beth. I've never gotten the look of clogs (and I can't wear them myself - sooo uncomfortable!). I think flipflops work for most people for a very casual look, and Birks are practically a classic here in Northern California for a casual, hippie-inspired beachy look; not my thing but it works great for some folks.

Never wore clogs except the third trimester of my pregnancy. Hate flip lops as. Don't like anything between my toes? Guess that leaves me with Birks, although I own Tevas instead.

I wear Birkis (-like) sandals in the summer, I love their suede-lined cork bed. I wear clogs in the fall and spring. I like the height boost I get from clogs, and the wide base for the heel. Flip-flops never, they don't have enough arch support and my big toe gets lonely for the other four ;-).

I cannot find shoes that are closed in the back that do not chafe and blister my heel except for boots and athletic shoes so most of my go-to shoes have no backs.

I adore Birkenstocks and am never without at least a couple of pairs. Flip flops are okay and I wear them around the house in warm weather. For a second I thought I was going to become a Dansko person, but my ankle rolls in them (the ankle that's been sprained several times already) so I had to give them away. Birks, flip flops, clogs.
