This was inspired by CocoLion's post. I am referring to standard issue Birkenstocks and zoris (flipflops) a cut or two above the super cheap kind.
I have all three, but my Birkenstocks currently hurt my feet so I don't wear them and I should get rid of them. Same with my $65 flipflops that have some type of rating from the Podiatric Association but are ugly and now uncomfortable to boot but I will keep them as shower and beachwear. I like the height, heel shape and funkiness of my Danskos, and their scale works with my chunky legs.
My rating scale of the three:
Clogs -- most stylish, but some brands are undeniably frumpy
Flipflops -- intermediate but can fall according to the style
Birkies -- Classics IMHO rank at the bottom, but some styles are funky enough to rise at least to the middle
