I have a very different body type with thighs and calves a size or two larger than hips and waist, but am wondering if you have ever tried Jag pull-on jeans? They are made of regular jeans fabric but have a faux zipper and wide stretchy panel at the top which is about the width of some Express Editor slack styles. (I had to take them in at the waist.) Jags might be too roomy in the legs for you, however, since I get a fit.

I haven't noticed too much bag at the bum or knees. A bit in the thighs sometimes. I think the fact that they are stretch helps to reduce bagging, as the fabric will hug better. I've only started wearing jeans again at all in the last couple of years, and so far I have been quite happy with theirs, although I do find the zip front ones fit better, even if they are a wee bit bulkier. YMMV.

What about something like this? The rise is too high for me, but I like super low rise

@DonnaF - No I haven't tried JAG's. Perhaps this is a brand I should look into. Thanks!

@JR - thanks for the review on the Reitmans! I noticed their comfort fit pants fabric has gotten better (I looked into them when they first came out and it was way too "polyester-y for me". I'm going to try sizing up and see if that works.

@Scarlet - that looks like a soft elastic waist! And that's from Mango? Hmm.. Worth looking into! Thanks!

I am also a squishy rectangle with a long rise and a curvy butt--although my legs are not especially shapely until the ankles. I actually prefer low-rise jeans, although I'm younger than most on this forum. A 7.5" rise is "magic" for me because it sits on my hips below my squishy section; I can comfortably wear a 7-8" rise. I'm more rectangle than apple so this works for me, as long as I don't try to tuck a slim shirt into pants.

I've tried countless mid-rise and high-rise jeans, including premium brands, and they actually give me muffin top because my rise is verrrry long (waist = hand width above my belly button) but doesn't go in much. If I do manage to find a high-rise pant that hits my true waist, I have to go up 2 sizes and everything else is huge.

So, just an alternative perspective on dealing with muffin top... don't rule out low-rise completely, especially in premium brands that will fit your booty better. Very low rises are cut with a large waist to accommodate hips, so you may be able to size down (I have a 28" waist and wear a size 26 low-rise jean).

MsKK -- I was in Gap today, returning a pair of Really Skinny pants for the same reason: rise was way too low. The SA introduced me to their "Mid Rise Skinny" jean -- which has a generous waist, high enough rise, and good stretch. My normal size fit me well and I would have bought two pair if they'd had another. I'm going to order a second pair to keep at SO's house.

They are a very dark wash with no whiskering, distressing, sanding, whimsical stitching, rhinestones, or other junior-esque jean features. And no bulges caused by a too-small waist hitting in the wrong place.

ETA: Dang, I just realized that online they are only available in sizes 00 and 20. They seem quite similar to what they're calling their "stiletto jean", though, although the stiletto has a longer inseam: http://www.gap.com/browse/prod.....=153109002

yummy tummy camis work pretty good at keeping MT at bay. I cannot tolerate a too high rise so I do pop a cami, if I am having an MT week.

Yo! Another Canuck weighing in - I definitely have the same problem; I have found that Zara bottoms work well for me! In addition, the brand "1921" if you can find them, gives me a very trim middle and looks sexy :p
