RANT: Grr darn Traffic Cops! Speeding?? 75 in 65 zone!

Grrr Mumble mumble... thought I'd over share! Darn Traffic Cop wrote me up for a 75 in a 65mph zone. Doesn't everyone drive that speed???? Argh, this was on the way back from LA. *sigh* Another reason for my shopping budget to shrink! I was driving a safe and reasonable speed but I was coming down a mountain and putting the brakes on. Anyhow now that I got it off my chest I feel much better. I wonder if others can relate. I love you YLF!

Grrrrr, with you ! I always wonder why police pick some people but not others when everyone is speeding. But I guess it is the unknowing that keeps us on our toes.

Ugh, Kalli. I can say that I've been there.

Do you have the flexibility with work, etc, to appeal the ticket? Here in Boston appeals work successfully very often in reducing the fine or, if you're lucky, dismissing the charge.

(I realize that the most costly part of this would be increased insurance premiums. Blah.)

@ mochi - I've had success contesting tickets before but I think this ticket will come in around $200 which makes me think I rather not waste my vacation time. Fortunately I can afford it but it's rubs! Taking a day off work is more stressful for me. I also qualify for traffic school since the last time I got a ticket was over 10 years ago. In California, every 18 months you can take traffic school to wipe out a 1pt offense. You can also have 1 pt on your driving record (remains for 3 years) for your insurance not to go up. This is for when someone gets a 2 pt offense, they can erase one with traffic school and keep one on the record. So basically every 18 months you can do traffic school and have no insurance increases. However, bleh, it's still money!

Eww, that stinks. I always try to drive the speed limit, but I have gone up to 135 km/hr in a 110 km/hr zone, because I get bored and my foot gets heavy. Everyone does drive 120 in a 110 zone though - sucks you got a ticket for it

Sorry about the ticket. That's a horrible speed trap! How are you supposed to get down the mountain ride the brake?

WHAT !!!!! $200 for being over by 10 mph and not driving dangerously and you are going down a mountain ? Wow. That does sting. It does seem really unfair.

Rats that stinks. Seems excessive for 10mph. A friend of mine recently got a $250 ticket for eating while driving!!! Who knew? It was an expensive lunch for her.
