I live in Seattle and rain is a very obvious part of my daily life (for most of the year). Years ago I picked up a cheap trench coach and I adore it. It's mid-thigh, mock double-breasted and has a belted tie (which I keep tucked in the pockets most of the time). I wear this jacket A LOT. It folds up small enough that I can tuck it into my bag and carry it around with me in the event I need it. I roll the sleeves up to make it 3/4 length sleeves if it's warmer out. It's just so versatile for me. The problem is that it's a fake rain jacket *G*. It has a v-neck style on the top that doesn't close so it attracts rain & wind and it has no liner. It's also cheap looking (to me) and is a plastic'y fabric so it makes me sweat sometimes.
My dilemma is that I cannot find a replacement for this jacket without spending thousands. I have another rain jacket which is a London Fog and I like the quality and look of it but it doesn't wear the same as my cheapie Fashion Bug jacket. Grr!
Any suggestions on a rain jacket that has the following characteristics:
- Trench style - mid-thigh is good
- Removable liner (fleece is fine but wool would be divine (though that typically puts it out of my preferred price point)
- Buttons style is not important
- Belted is preferred but not required
- If it has a hood, it should be detachable. I prefer a rain hat.
- Not navy or tan
Budget is not that flexible, I really don't want to spend more than $200 on this piece. I've found some amazing Burberry pieces but really .. $2k?
Suggestions are greatly appreciated!
