Rain boots

I'm in the market for a pair of rain boots. I forgot how much it rains here! As soon as I got over the hot weather dressing fiasco it started raining daily.

I have hideously huge calves so tall boots are out.

I snapped a couple of magazine layouts showing some fashionable rain boots but I honestly don't know where to start. My last pair was bought 8+ years ago and retired a few months ago before the rains started.

I assume most people wear skinnies to avoid wet pants hems. So I guess this means the whole boot will likely be exposed.

I'm going to keep my eyes open at NAS as well.

Anything to look out for?

So Suz, what do you wear when it rains? I'm not certain I need a dedicated rain boot. Maybe something that's waterproof but doesn't read as a rubber boot? I like the idea of a stealth shoe haha

As soon as I bought my first ever rain boots (from Target no less), I'm SURE I brought on our California drought. They cost about as much as tax for the Rag & Bones. Chicago folks: Please send us your rain.

I wear what we call Gumboots in NZ but they are not glamourous AT ALL! But great for the sports sideline which is where I wear them. I pretty much always wear with skinny jeans as they are knee high.
You can buy upmarket ones like Hunter or Barbour but I did not want to pay the premium given my needs and how filthy they get.
I had some cuter ones but they perished and started leaking after one season so I went to the farming shop and bought serious ones.
On a wet day for shopping or just general errands I wear leather boots (ankle or tall), my Gumboots/wet weather boots are strictly for practical use.
I think the colourblock ones on the first page are really cute and the style would be classic. It is one of those purchases where quality is important though as there is nothing worse than wet soggy socks!

Mine come from Costco.

Tip: Make sure they don't have a hole in them when you buy them. I know from experience this sucks.
