Radcliffe jeans - any experience with these?

In my quest for jeans, I stumbled across Radcliffe jeans at Loehmann's today, and I'm seriously considering buying them (per my jeans quest thread, I'm looking for higher waisted straight or bootcut jeans that fit my curvy bottom). I think this is the style - but it was marked down to $35:

Now I was between a 29 and 30; the 29 looked a little bit "stuffed sausage" like, while the 30 was very comfortable and looked just right. I don't know about stretch, though, and I want to avoid the issue that I've experienced with Sohos in the past (they fit "just right" when you try them on but then they stretch incredibly over time.) Does anyone have experience with Radcliffe and know whether/how much they stretch?

I also might post pictures later to have you help me decide whether they are truly flattering and are indeed a keeper. I'm quite worn out from my denim quest, honestly. (I've already ruled out Joe's Muse and Honey, COH Amber and Elson, and am not 100% convinced of David Kahn's, though I still consider them a contender. I liked the highwaistedness of the Rich & Skinnies I tried, but they were too small in 29 and I have not been able to find them in a 30 yet.)

I'm sorry Antje, no personal experience with the Radcliffes, I do love the look of them though;-)

Looks like we'll both be posting jeans pictures this week then: I just bought a pair of COH Amber in the smaller size and I'm wondering about possible sausage effect too;-)
They're not low-rise on me, but ideally I'd love a pair with a slightly higher rise as well.

Could you post a link to the Rich & Skinnies? I'll keep an eye out for them in a 30 then.

These are the Rich & Skinnies I tried. I liked the high waist (and the denim is beautiful), but they were way too small at 29. I've scoured the web, including ebay, but there don't seem to be any high waisted R&S's available in 30 (or any size above 27 for that matter!) http://www.shopbop.com/high-je.....shopbysize

Sorry Antje, I've never come across this brand, but they look great. I sympathize with your exhaustion in the jeans quest. It certainly isn't easy. It seems you had such good luck with your bathing suit search -- I hope you can jeans you love as much as your new suit!

Sorry, I've never come across that brand either. I'm still searching for jeans myself, and Wardrobe 911 sings high praises for the 7FAM "Ginger." I'm very tempted to order them. I can't find them anywhere in a store to try, so I would have to order them from Zappos. They are very expensive, but I suppose worth it if they truly fit. They do have a very wide leg though, and I'm short (5'4"), so I'm not sure they would look good on me.

When I think about it, I have about four pairs of "so-so" jeans, and if I added up the cost, it would be more than one pair of expensive jeans that are killer. Also, I'm a little unsure about what size to order, although I guess I could always return the pair that didn't fit. I'm an 8 in the SOHOs, but they're probably cut a bit bigger than other brands. I think I'm a "30" in most premium jeans, but honestly - I've never tried on a premium jean that had a high enough waist for me! I have great hopes for the "Ginger."

Thanks Laura. So I actually decided to bring all of the jeans back (I've accumulated several "candidates" at home) and abandon the search until fall. It's a bit depressing, but I just couldn't get myself to spend $150 on jeans that I only liked "okay" but not "great" (which is the case with the David Kahns, which worked best for me.)

I am, however, keeping the Radcliffes. They fit well, make me feel happily "tucked in", they are only $35, and they serve a slightly different purpose than the blue denim jeans I had originally looked for. These Radcliffes are grey, and the legs are wider than I was looking for (I'd say not quite wide-legged style, but a very generous bootcut), and they look very smart and polished. I can wear these for professional situations where jeans would feel almost too casual but that don't quite require dress pants. I still will need blue jeans for the "everyday smart casual" look I'm after, but I'll defer till later this year and will continue making do with what I have in my closet throughout spring and summer.

Thanks for sharing the info Antje - sorry the David Kahn's didn't work out - they made your butt look adorable at the store last night I think I should go to Loehman's (never been there) and try out the Radcliffe's since I can't find a rise high enough other than NYDJ right now.

I love the Radcliffe's you posted and I'm glad those worked for you. They are really good looking and the price is great.

Tarzy does this help with your sizing? I am a 4 and I wear a 27 in the COH.
