I've randomly had these on my wishlist for months. They're finally on sale, but still no bargain. Are they a good spring item in terms of patterned pants, or not worth it?

Hmm. They're smart as a basic. I don't know if they're a showstopper, tho, if you're looking to do *P*atterned pants.

Una, I NEED you to get those pants! I am SO tempted to order them myself, but that would be totally "spending money for my imaginary fashion life," and with my NYC trip coming up, I must be careful with my pennies and closet space so I can do some shopping there. So YOU must take one for the team and make these yours!

I'm sure you'd look fab in them. But I'm with Rae, I have a poisoned eye against anything called "harem pants" or "drop crotch". It doesn't sound very ladylike to me. I must be lost...I'm not even sure how I ended up in this thread...

Somehow zigzag just doesn't give off an UWP vibe. Maybe for an UWP's little baby girl. : )

I have a slight reservation about the "elastic banded waist", although it does appear to sit snug and smooth over the high hip on the model. For the price, I would be looking for a constructed waist that looks EXACTLY like the waist band in the picture but has no elastic.
Apart from that, I think they are remarkably, perfectly, adorable for you.

I recoil in horror from those pants because I know I would look hideous in them. I think I have the poisoned eye for harem pants too, Rae.

However, I know that if anyone here can make harem pants look fab, it's you, Una. I'm not totally sure about that particular print being UWP worthy, though. It's cute, but something is holding you back other than the price, and I can't quite put my finger on it (the elastic waist maybe?), but I'm not feeling them either.

I have actually studied these pants, because I was pondering them for myself at one point...They are a mixed bag, IMO. Since the pattern isn't consistent, they look very busy. They could be very balloony on little tiny you (like the blue pants that Inge has that you tried), also the elastic waist doesn't thrill me. So I think I'm a tentative meh :).
