Years ago I bought some jewelry from QVC or HSN, (I cant remember which) just to try it out, they were good quality gold and some gemstones. They carry some major brands, so I imagine it depends what you buy.
What I find interesting is how ahead of the times QVC and the Shopping network were if you really think about it -- they were the precurser to "online shopping" like so many of us use now.
First it was "catalogs", I remember looking for hours at the toys and other things in the Sears catalog as a kid. They made items available to all, which was especially useful for folks who lived in remote areas to have access. Shopping by phone! who knew? and many stores were Catalog only--which offered financial benefits as a business model, saving on storefront rent, etc. Warehouses could be anywhere.
Then TV shopping became popular, where you could see an actual person modeling the items, showing the drape, the way things fit on different bodies, how products actually work.
When "online shopping" first started, there was many discussions of "is it safe to share financial info online?" "Will people actually buy something they can't touch"? "How can a website show everything a consumer needs to know?"
Its amazing how far we have come! These days I still appreciate a brick and mortar store and especially buying locally, however I love the ability to buy special products from anywhere, and in sizes and products not available locally to me, and the time it can save (or not--online shopping time suck is real)!
