I have no time for pics but I thought I would post some quick reviews of the items that arrived today.
1: The entire Boss ensemble, jacket, skirt, trousers and sheath. Wow! This is beautiful. The color is a mid-tone blue, lighter than a true navy but darker than many blues, making it a very refined and versatile color. The material is lightweight but soft. It easily passes the scrunch test in terms of wrinkles. It is billed as stretch wool, although it really doesn't have much stretch. Every item is impeccably sewn and fully lined. There is plent of hem to let out and or they can be made shorter.
The sheath fit puzzled me. I tried two sizes a 2&4. Both worked but I think I'm going to keep the larger and have a tailor take it in because the waist hit in a better place on my torso. The size 2 fit better overall though so I would say the overall fit may be slightly large.
The jacket fit of the 4 was impeccable and requires no tailoring. I can hear angels singing! This is a first! I like the 6 also because it works well with bulkier sweater, but as soon as I try it with a thin blouse it looks too baggy. Funny that it works like that on me but it does. (I tried a 4&6 in jackets because of sleeve length concerns)
This entire group is a winner and I will probably keep.
2. The Max Mara ensemble, which includes a dress not pictured here is very nice. It's a beautiful substantial knit fabric. Very soft. The dress looks and fits great in my typical Max Mara size 6. The jacket also fits well, but looks much more svelte than on the model and gives me a fairly defined waist. The cropped pants, which are knit, are snug on my legs. The model shows them as loose. I wonder if I should order a size up? If you have muscular legs, which I do, these pants may not be the best option. The Boss trousers were a perfect fit in comparison in size 4.
I'm likely to keep the dress but return the rest. The dress looks good with the Boss blazer.
3. Three sweaters, all very nice. Two turtlenecks, slightly different, but both so great I think I am keeping. The White funnel neck sweater is so stunningly soft and beautiful I want to wear tomorrow but it's going to be 80+ F. I love that it has a banded bottom, the neckline is wonderful, and it is well made. The Vince zip sweater is fun. I love the side zips, which allow whatever interesting top you have underneath to pop through. It's not too wide or bulky either. It's fairly sleek. The Trouve sweater is a nice casual addition for weekends. I like the slits in front which once again will allow some peek-a-boo effect for a shirt layer below.
4. Lafayette NY silk shell. This shirt matches the Boss suit perfectly in case anyone else is considering it. I ordered both the P, and S. Both fit, but I have a slight preference for the smaller size because it is less overwhelming. Wear with a racer back or cross back bra, or use clips on back of regular bra because of the cut in shoulder detail. Bra straps show in back with a regular bra.
The halogen top is fine but I have one like it and it washes and wears well. I'm not likely to keep it because I already have a pink top that I like better.
5. Madewell cotton jacket- I purchased this in my forever quest of trying to find a denim jacket equivalent. I like this version. It fit me well. It has an internal drawstring giving it some shape. The color is grey but it has an olive green wash over it that is very subtle. I like it. It goes with most everything casual and is very neutral. I think it can be used in the same ways a denim jacket would. I ordered my usual size, and it's fit was generous enough to fit a medium sweater underneath.
6.The shoes are all as anticipated in terms of color. The SW's were a tiny bit big. I ordered 1/2 size larger than my usual. I am reordering my usual size for comparison. My heel was slipping. The Donald Pliners are gorgeous looking. Sadly, they are made for a larger volume foot than mine. I ordered my size and a size larger. Both were too roomy. These are going back.
The Paul Green loafers are a perfect fit for my foot. Medium width, narrow heel, wider toe box. The same is true of the Sorrells and the Aquatalias. All three were in my typical size. I may end up keeping all of them. I have variable luck with Aquatalias but these fit well. Narrow ankle was still a bit wide for me but not but not bad when wearing with a sock.
Bcbg wrap is nothing special. It fit well but it's going back. The pattern is very lively and vibrant.
MZ Wallace handbags - the red is too dark. Great quality. Lots of pockets. The zippers are nice. The red bag also is a great size if you want a small bag. i think the leather handles make them heavier than other available lightweight bags. I use these for my workday.
ETA pics of Max Mara ensemble, but you need to scroll down a few posts. Sorry! Technical issues!
