Quick question(s) about ordering online with GAP

How fast is GAP shipping? I've never ordered from GAP online before, and was wondering how long it takes to get things you've ordered online. I'm very busy these days and don't have much time to shop in stores. I also have a lot of travel coming up, and I'm a bit scared that things I order online won't arrive in time.

Also, if you were going to order the Academy blazer, would you choose the grey with the black trim, or the navy with the black trim? Any votes for black with cream/white trim?

I am personally leaning toward the navy with the black piping, but there's this silly voice at the back of my head - it's my Mom saying, "You can't wear navy with jeans" ...and I do wear jeans fairly often. The grey looks a little bit too 'heather-y' to my eye, at least based on online photos, and while I also love the black with cream/white piping, it reads dressier. I'd go for the black with cream/white trim too if I thought it could also work with "smart casual" in some way.

Is my Mom right that you cannot wear navy with anything denim?

I like the navy one best, but am hesitant. Also like the black with the white/cream trim as well. The grey is in there as a 'contender' because it might work better with the rest of my wardrobe (which is not doing so well), but I'm not keen on the 'heather-y' grey for some reason.

What do YLF'ers think?

I order from Gap Canada -- in my experience shipping is really fast. I have ordered things and had them 2 days later. I like the navy and think it would look great with jeans. Mona posted a picture of the light grey blazer with the citron trim, it might help you decide.

Thank you Ceit - that makes me feel better, that the shipping was quite fast. I'm totally leaning toward the navy with black piping, just that silly comment my Mom made, saying that wearing navy with denim is "too dark". Of course I'd wear the jacket with non-denim pieces too, but the reality is that I also wear jeans a lot.

Gap shipping is pretty fast. If I take the free shipping option it can take as long as a week, but with the $7(?) shipping I usually have my items within a few days.

I like the navy with black trim. Navy looks great with denim to me.

Thank you! I think I'm just going to go ahead and order the navy one. I happen to like the looks of the navy with the black trim the most. I'll just banish the, "You can't wear navy with denim" voice (Mom's voice) from my head. I wear navy with denim and nobody seems to mind.

Sigh...I just went to order, and saw, "On order, estimated ship date August 28" or something like that.

I ordered the navy with back and it arrived in 2 days. The 28th isn't that far away and it's worth the wait. What I liked about this color way was that it's so subtle. Oh, yeah. I also already have another black blazer with ivory trim.

blerg! Do you live near a gap store? It seems this jacket is being carried in most stores based on the reviews I've seen here.

I can get to a store this weekend - it's just that there's a good sale on right now which ends tonight - just my luck, eh?

I'm really interested in this jacket, and it might be that I don't get it on sale, just because I can't manage to get it ordered online properly - in my size, and have it arrive when I'm actually at home. Like I said, I have a bunch of travel coming up.

I don't need the jacket until the end of September, just that I'll be away right around the time the jacket might ship.

I can see why Angie is on "team store" - this online stuff is for the birds, sometimes.

I recently ordered that beautiful Vince Caumuto peasant blouse from Nordstrom in the green/black colourway, and while I *love it* - it was way too big. I wasn't expecting that at all. So now I've ordered a smaller size, and will have to make a trek to my local store to return the one that didn't work. Love the blouse - it's beautiful...but of course, since I'd ordered online, and hadn't tried it on, it wasn't quite right.

Meanwhile, the GAP Academy blazer seems like one of those things that is a really great find at a very reasonable price, even if it's not on sale. So yeah..I'll just get to a store this weekend.

Thanks again for the helpful feedback on shipping and the 'boost' for the navy ..that's the one I like too

What I've found is that gap delivers using FedEx (so you can track your packages) but FedEx sends it to the post office to deliver. So if you are traveling and you've held your mail from the US postal service, your gap package will be held as well. It will then be delivered when you have your mail resumed. I just got back from a trip yesterday, and my gap delivery was held from Friday until Monday when the rest of my mail was delivered. Hope this helps!

P.S. I think the navy would look great with jeans or denim

I have a navy blazer w/ white trim similar to #3 and I get a ton of wear out of it I recommend!

Gap shipping is fantastic - free shipping is about a week and if you pay for the quicker option, it's usually 3-4 days.

That's a great idea - if order hasn't arrived in time, my 'hold mail' will be in place. I didn't realize GAP does the FEDEX, then postal service - very helpful!!

I think the sale was 30% off yesterday, but I'm sure I saw an ad that there's 25% today...

I recently ordered some tee shirts with the free shipping option, and it seemed like they took forever! Hard to complain about free, though.

I'm surprised to hear people say the shipping is fast. I think it's very slow. The free shipping option is usually 7-9 days and the $7 shipping option is 5-7, for me it's more on the end of 7. It drives me nuts.

Hmm. Interesting. I order from Gap in Canada all the time. I always order the free shipping (supposed to be 7 days) and it has never taken more than 3 to arrive! I guess it just depends where you live.

VC - I wear navy with denim all the time. I do like the tones to marry well - some blues just don't look great with other blues, if you know what i mean. But that is not such a big deal. Generally it works out.

As for that blazer, I tried it on in the store and while I have liked it a lot on others here, on me it was doing no favours. I'm not sure what the trouble was - too wide through the body, maybe? It just didn't look great. But as you know, it looks terrific on some of our members and I'm sure it would be a super useful piece.

My navy gap blazer ordered around August 6th has STILL not arrived but one I ordered from a store came within 2 days. Next time I'm calling the store first. This time I wanted to try 2 different sizes. Fedex shows the package simply as "submitted for shipping" whatever that means. I do plan to wear mine with jeans, as well as with other colors. I think it depends on the darkness of the denim and the rest of the outfit.
