Quick fix alteration?

I got handed down this unworn dress yesterday. It is a size or 2 larger than i usually wear (pic 1)
But it occured to me that I could just move the buttons in on the waist tab and wear it like pic 2. Easy alteration.It would still be a bit looser under the arms than ideal but might just look ok.
I am not sure the colour is the best on me but I could wear it with colourful accessories

No I haven't lost a bit of weight biking!! Still 3 to 4 pounds above pre-Christmas. It is fun though.

How is the back? Does it pouf out at the seat and shoulder blades? If yes, then taking it in on the sides might be a better option. If no, then moving the buttons would be an easy fix.

Suz - yes you are right - after all it is just sewing on 4 buttons and Donna - the back seems to fit ok (I have a bigger back than front, it seems!)

I have to confess I wouldn't have chosen this dress myself to actually buy but it pretty much fell in my lap.

It's a nice dress Anne and would be lovely for summer. The colour is very light but if you wanted you could add a bit of punch with accessories. Definitely worth the alteration.

hmmmm, anne i'm going to disagree, i understand you have nothing financial to lose in altering the dress, but it seems to me that this is the sort of outfit that you were complaining about a few weeks ago….the post about how the twenty somethings at work were making you feel invisible. maybe you should pass this one along to someone else.

Yes, it has there some potential! ! I would try altering the side belts, and for not staying invisible I would throw in some chunky contrasting accessories(a big cuff, a bright color or black and white color blocked and well structured bag/oversized clutch and some animal shoes).
