Quick dressing room try-ons - YouLookFab Forum

I finally made it to my local store to pick up the items I ordered on July 16. Some quick try-ons and thoughts. (I’ll add finds when I get home.)

AllSaints Ridley pullover (1-2)- love the drape on the top, but I’m less certain about what’s going on with the bottom/waist. Due to how it’s cut, the drape is very different in the front from the back. Thinking I’ll take this home to style before making a final decision.

Rag & Bone fedora (3): Cute, gorgeous color and wonderful quality, but too small for my head. And, it doesn’t come in a larger size. My search continues!

Treasure and Bond quilted jacket (4): Definitely outerwear, but the fabric seems too soft to hold up for that use. Returning. (Angie had also mentioned quality issues with the seaming.)

Caslon quilted hoodie (5-6): Cute, good quality, great color, and the seams are nicely finished. However, it's just a bit heavier and stiffer than I wanted for indoor wear. And the pockets aren’t particularly useful for me as outerwear. As one review mentioned, it’s very boxy, which also isn’t what I had in mind to fill this particular wardrobe hole.

ETA- FAHERTY button-up shirt: The color was nothing like the picture. Dull, looked more like faded denim. No pic, because I didn't try it on. I'm considering ordering the oat color.

Love the drapey sweater! Such a pretty color and nice fit! I really like both jackets on you but I’ve accumulated enough to know that if they’re not light enough for indoor wear, they really don’t get worn. You know what you want in a jacket and good for you for being practical! Too bad about the hat—it’s so cute!

I love the color of the sweater! I see what you're saying about the waist. I agree with kkards to try pulling the waist band up higher and letting it blouse over. Or try tucking it, or pulled down lower paired with those Commando leather leggings could be fun.

That hat is so pretty, wish they sold a larger size of it as you say.
To me the sweater does look a bit too long. Gorgeous color with your hair. Can you try the sweater with jeans and pointed-toe boots ?

The style and color of the white hat are fantastic on you! I hope you can find a white hat in a similar style. I also hope the sweater works when you style it at home; it’s another beautiful color on you.

That being said, I’m impressed with your willingness to walk away from several items which are close but not exactly right.

kellygirl: I was surprised how much I like the color of the sweater, since I was on the fence based on the pictures. It's a lovely weight with fabulous drape.

kkards and Ana: In the end, I returned the sweater. There was a very fine knot in one of the threads. Almost unnoticeable, but once I saw it, I knew it would bother me, so I returned it, and let the staff know. I might stalk another one, and then can try styling it.

JAileen: The shorter jacket has a layer of polyester insulation in between two layers of knit. Very thin, but I think that might be what's making the jacket stiff. Really too bad that the pockets weren't more functional though. As an outdoor jacket, it would have been a nice change from a fleece. Thanks for the tip on men's hats!

rachylou- definitely the skirt is an issue with the sweater. I need something with a much smoother waistband on the bottom.

Beth0707- I love the pale pink of the hat! But, I have a very large head (23.5") in addition to a lot of hair. Looking at pictures, I think the sweater can be styled both blousoned (as kkards suggested) and long. Blouson is probably better with my body type:)

Windchime: The light in the Nordie's dressing room was bad- the hat is pale pink with a gray band. Very pretty and gorgeous quality. I'm super picky with NAS. I love it- and love seeing what people get. But, I'm strict about sticking to my list with only a couple wild cards. I'm also very strict about quality relative to price, because a couple times, I've gotten carried away and overlooked quality.

Windchime, your caution around quality, particularly for items during NAS seems warranted. I have also been disappointed when a NAS purchase did not hold up beyond 1-2 washes/cleanings. I suspect they produce many of the items just for the sale, and in order to create the quantity they need, at a lower price point, they may skimp on the quality and workmanship.

My favorite things here are the shirt (that isn’t that color), the hat (that doesn’t fit) and the teal sandals (that you already own.

Staysfit- I completely agree. I've gotten some fabulous items at NAS that are still going strong years later- EF jacket and denim skirt in finds, for example. But, also a couple misses, like a Vince dress that pilled far too early. (The dress was a pre-YLF purchase, so I didn't have the advantage of Angie's top picks.)

FashIntern: I LOVE the sandals, and have been stopped a couple times by people wanting to know how/where I found teal Birks. As for the shirt, I'm definitely considering the oat, which would probably be more versatile in my wardrobe. I was bummed about the hat, but it started hurting my head even over 5 minutes of trying it on. Hard to leave behind, though. That said, it comes in sizes (55, 57, 59cm) and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone that it might fit.

Thanks, Angie! It was a good hair day, here in the humid mid-Atlantic. I'm stalking another AS sweater, since there was a tiny flaw in the fabric of this one, and I'm pretty sure I have some streamlined skirts and trousers that would work with it. And, I put the gray (non-sale) one on my Nordie's wish list. It was definitely an item that brought a smile to my face as soon as I put it on.

The All Saints sweater is terrific! Great buy for you! It's too bad about the Treasure and Bond jacket because it had potential. But onwards!

CocoLion- it's a super cute jacket! I'd definitely recommend it to others. I had a very specific wardrobe hole for a casual indoor layer, and it wasn't quite right for me. But, that's more my being very picky at NAS.

Suz- The T&B jacket is super cute and warm, but the exterior fabric was thin. Thanks for the boost on the AS sweater- I keep hoping another one will pop back. Finger crossed!
