(I finally found the off topic section, yay!)

I am a curious cat today, but forgive me for asking.

1. What are some of your other non-style/clothing related hobbies?

2. Do you consider yourself more or less interested in fashion and style than the people around you?

3. Do you consider yourself MORE knowledgeble on this topic than those around you? Do they acnowledge you for this? Do you ever get asked for advice or help on fashion and style? What I am trying to figure out is, does your sense of style and fashion show through? (No one asks me btw, ha ha. *sad face emoji*).

Thanks, Lisa. Yes, hobbies may be included in ones profile. Must say the forum has taken a strange direction lately, hope I am not contributing to that.

2. I’m more interested in dressing than those around me, but my close family and bffs have strong aesthetic opinions.

3. People do ask my opinion. Esp for weddings. I’ve been asked to do someone’s wedding makeup... although that one is slightly incomprehensible, since I don’t do makeup honestly. Also, have to say, people asking my opinion probably is intertwined with my Edwardian sense of etiquette and decorum.

I like reading, baking, sport and fitness, the beach, gardening and yoga.

Re fashion - a mix but probably about the same as my friends. I do have friends with very little interest though.

My next ex-husband doesn't care about fashion. He has his own sense of style, and it never deviates from his formula.

My IRL friends know that I know style. I may not always be knowing all the latest microtrends, but I know personal style fairly well. My sense of style is fluid, yet always seems to make sense to those who know me.

My other interests & hobbies? Lately, the gym. Music, since forever. Museums and other cultural attractions. Yoga. Archery. Marksmanship. Reading.

1. My dog, cooking/baking, working out.
2. Definitely more interested than most of my friends and colleagues.
3. While I feel that I looked put together, I wouldn't say I'm fashionable. Hence, I'm rarely asked for my opinion on style except for an occasional question from my daughters. I rarely notice a lack of style but I do notice when someone looks great!

Well, I think my sons have more sense of style than me. I don’t feel stylish necessarily but I have a sense of my own style, and I’d say that that is true of most of my friends. Style and fashion are not topics that usually comes up in conversation. I often feel less stylish than other members of the forum.

I sometimes shop with one friend who will ask what I think about something she is trying on but she trusts her sense of her own style more than my opinion. That’s about it.
I went from less stylish than everyone around me to fitting in, which was, for me, a big improvement.

I love attending lectures, art exhibitions, and theater. Less often concerts. And I make art/crafts, although I haven’t done much lately. I like to swim and be in or near bodies of water.

For hobbies, I'm very much into classical music. I've played flute and piano for years. I also enjoy cooking and ballroom dancing.

People do often comment on my clothing; I sometimes wear ununsual pieces that elicit comments (like my snakeskin mules!). I have a friend who has asked me to take her clothes shopping, but that is the extent of my being asked for help. I wouldn't consider myself super stylish because I often don't do my hair properly or wear makeup, so I look a little unfinished.

@Cindy omg, next-ex-husband! Intriguing description I must say. Hope all is well. You seem like a lively and determined woman, with a life full of adventures and positivity. I appreciate your comments and thoughts on here a lot.

@Barbara I think this applies to me too. I have gone from completely out of whack fashion wise, to just "fitting in". And that to me is a wast improvement. Will work on the standing-out-as-very-stylish-part later

Interesting to see that many of you share artistic and creative outlets for hobbies. I guess this is where the interest in fashion and style plays in for me too.

Hi Synne,
I like yoga, golf, travel, and skiing.
I am not sure if I am more interested in fashion than the people around me, and nobody asks me for advice. I think this is because my clothes are all very basic.

Hi Synne,l like gardening alot,music,knitting, sewing,exercising,cooking, reading and anything crafty really.l am not sure how others perceive me fashion wise .l do it for my own interest really but I have been asked to go and choose wedding dresses and formal wear with various different friends and I have been flattered by this and honoured to help them.

Synne - my hobbies are my dogs, walking (those dogs) and doing karate. I reluctantly go to the gym, but that is just for a bit more fitness rather than any love of the gym. I would also classify YLF as my hobby.

Fashion - I have always loved it. I would say since YLF I have picked up my game and so now I am getting asked more fashion advice especially from DH who is really into developing his style and be more adventurous in wearing colour.

Hi Synne,

My hobbies/interests include yoga, fitness, reading, spirituality and most recently I signed up for adult tap dancing lessons! I enjoy current events although I am not particularly well-educated on anything - but I am interested. I don't consider fashion so much of a hobby as personal style i.e. how my wardrobe is a fractal of my larger personhood (but also I like colours and pretty things too; don't get me wrong )

I am less interested in fashion (fashion around me tends to be brand-oriented) but more interested in personal style, I'd say.

I do get asked on rare occasion for input, only from close friends who know that I do follow trends even though I don't really wear them. I am generally a person who gets asked for advice by people though I think it's because I'm good at cheerleading people, which is often what they need more than advice! I don't see anyone emulating my style, but I don't care. As long as I roughly fit in, I'm happy with DYOT.

Omg. I want to do tap. I’ll never forget this hunt club party ... bunch of old coots who did parties the old fashioned way and provided their own performance entertainment, including tap dancing! Absolutely mad cap! Total hoot

I have at least 50 hobbies, and add more each year, but mostly in the areas of fitness, outdoors, and creativity. My motto is "that looks like fun I should try that!" Just a few are dance (belly, Latin, fire), biking, interior design, yoga, music, writing, jewelry making, swimming, paddleboarding, horseback riding, karate, etc....
More interested and more knowledgable. I've done a lot of study of color/line theory especially.

I used to have really active hobbies - ballet, yoga, trapeze, gardening... hubs and I used to have a group of friends we would take turns hosting dinner party/game nights with.... then, we moved far away.... There's not a lot of excitement where I am, and we have two small kids so it's tough to find the time and energy for all of that anyway.

Fashion - not really. My MIL likes to keep up on how often I edit my closet. She's a self-proclaimed clothes hoarder and she gets excited when I purge stuff.
