Question re: Nude Shoes

I know nude was a huge colour (or is that "lack" of colour?) for footwear in 2011 (boots, pumps, flats, sandals). Do you think nude shoes are now considered a classic that will always be in style, or has the nude footwear trend been just that - a trend?

If it is a trend and not classic, I think at least it will stick around for a while. There are other fashion forces, such as the wearing of ankle length or cropped pants, that will also serve to keep this look a fashion necessity for a while.

Nude or flesh colored sandals have been around for awhile. I had a pair of platforms slides from 2000 that I wore to death because the yellowy nude shade was so versatile and looked good with summer frocks.

I think a nude that is close to one's own skin color in spring/summer because of its leg lengthening effect is a staple for many wardrobes. I see myself wearing them a lot in years to come.

I can't imagine them disappearing, They just seem to be a wardrobe staple and seamlessly blend every outfit. I love them for those difficult to" match the footwear to the outfit" dilemma I sometime get into:)

I agree with the others. I think they're a trend that has real staying power due to the versatility of the look~

I am looking forward to finding my perfect pair this spring for my birthday so I am going to go for it whether they are a waning trend or a staple I agree with the fact that they are the ultimate neutral shoe that will go with anything - because they go with 'you'.

There are so many different skin-toned fabrics and leathers that will work as nude. Maybe a certain type of nude shoe (ie. the patent leather band-aid colored platform pumps) will wane after a while.

As a shortie you must have a variety of shoes that are either nude or act as a low contrast neutral. It might be a trend for others but it is a staple for us!!

I am a funky asian tone, so my neutrals aren't really neutrals (they're "asian tan in the summer") - and I love them very much.

I think with Princess Kate's fondness of them, they'll probably kick around for at least another yr.

Wow - I see your point Rita! They are definitely leg lengthening! I love all of these, but I'm particularly crazy about your sandals in #2 and the boots in #9/10. May I ask what brands those are? I swear I'm constantly learning from you!!!

The sandals in 2 are Sofft Pavia's. They are the perfect nude for me. I had to size down to my high heel size. They are pretty comfy for really really high shoes.

The boots are Miz Mooz Flynn's. They are also fairly comfortable for heels but they aren't all day walking shoes.

This time of year I am wearing opaque black spanx with black knee high boots, it achieves the same effect.

One more thing about nude shoes. For me both nude pumps and nude flats have been a a total failure. Nude ballet flats make me feel like I am barefoot and forgot to finish getting dressed. Pumps are a trying way too hard to be dressed up look for me. I don't find them comfortable for everyday and in my climate I can only wear them a few weeks a year. I like sandals and wedges in summer and boots in winter.

I agree with modgrl, nude shoes are perfect for shorties. So they won't go out of style for me!
