Question on DVF Wrap Dress

Is it okay to wear a cami or tank under a DVF wrap dress? I bought the recent NAS blush/black animal print wrap dress, and the fit is exquisite everywhere but the bust. I'm petite, but very busty at a 34F, so I cannot decently wear the dress without putting a layer underneath. Does this ruin the line and look of the dress? Trying to decide if this is a keeper or not since this is a spendy item, even on sale. My DH really likes the dress on me, but uhm, maybe he's not the best guide for office appropriate!

Hi Amy! Absolutely wear a cami underneath if you need to. This has been suggested on the forum for many different tops and dresses that are cut too low. I'm glad to hear you found a dress both you and your husband like. That is no easy feat. Please post a pic!

I think that it depends on how low the neckline is on the dress and how much of the cami would be showing. If it is just a little bit of the cami, then I don't think you have to worry about it ruining the beautiful v-neckline of the dress - however, if the cami is going to significantly cut off the neckline, then I think it would be a problem. Would you post a picture? Then, we could give you a more definitive opinion!

I wear a cami under most wrap tops I have as well as a v-neck silk georgette blouse. I think the cami does make the top (or dress in your case) look more casual, or perhaps more daytime than nighttime. So if I were spending a lot of money on a fabulous dress, I might want to be able to wear it without a cami, even if just for dressier or evening occasions.

I usually wear a cami under wrap styles. I like the book ending possibilities. I do it because I don't have the boobage to fill a wrap out. Small or large to much in your face is just to much. Firecracker and Marly have good points tho but for office wear you should be golden.

I think wrap styles need a cami for the larger busts. I am always surprised when magazines and tv stylists suggest them for very curvy women. If you love the dress, wear the cami with it for most occasions and have fun with it.

I think a cami is a great solution for daytime/work. Would you consider securing the opening with a tiny safety pin from the backside whenever you wear it without the cami, like on date nights with DH? I think it works well if you place it carefully, and not too high.

I'm not familiar with the dress, but could you put a stitch in to keep the bust area closed? I'm busty too and have done that with wrap tops.

DVF should fit perfectly, the point of spending the extra for couture.
If not I would keep looking until you find a style that is big boob friendly. With a wrap dress there is always the danger of way too much cleavage on display or even fallout. A fitted scoop neck, T-shirt style with 3/4 sleeves might be a better option to flatter and show off your figure without anything popping out especially in the office where you want to be taken seriously.

I wear a full length slip under by DVF - I fear falling out of it everywhere! Thus, I never wear mine much. As a hourglass, I thought that's what I was suppose to wear:) Now, I prefer a faux wrap style. Try Boden, they usually have a good selection and at half the price.

I'm only a D cup but I always have to wear camis underneath a wrap dress to keep them work appropriate. It's just something about how a wrap dress falls on the busty. I actually really like the look of a cami peeking out underneath, it adds another nice detail - assuming it's a pleasant coordinating or contrasting color, and doesn't look too much like your underwear is showing!

Like Laura, I'm also a D cup and always wear a camisole under my wrap dresses. DVF wraps are notorious for being skimpy in the bust, and I've yet to try one of her dresses that I could wear sans cami, even for an evening out.

Give it a whirl and post some pictures.

I agree, not problem with a cami. I cannot wear a wrap dress with out one. I prefer the look without but I think if you are large busted (as I am too), it's just not doable.
