Question for those who prefer matching hangers...

Say that you bought hangers several years ago and now can't find new ones to match. You have closet space and garments for a few more hangers. You've resorted to plastic ones for a few things (jeans, hoodies) but it is starting to make you crazy. What do you do?

(For extra excitement, replace "Say" with "Pop Quiz, Hotshot!" and add an extra "WHAT DO YOU DO?!?" at the end. Then spend a few minutes fantasizing about Keanu Reeves pre-The Matrix Revolutions)

I am tempted to replace all the hangers but that seems like a bit of a waste, I don't know what I would do with the old ones...

I would totally replace them all. I love having matching hangers! I'd donate the old ones or give them to a friend.

I would buy a different type or color and put them in one area only. Perhaps it would be the section with evening wear that isn't used as often and then would take the hangers from there and put them in the regular section. I would probably buy about three times as many as I needed and gradually expand the "new section" as needed using the new hangers.

If I couldn't do what Dianthus suggested I'd replace them all. If you store your seasonal clothing on hangers in another area then dedicate one style to one season?

If money isn't an issue, I'd replace them all and probably find a good use for the other ones -- like off season storage, coat closets, laundry room, nieces, BFFs!

What MK said. I love my matching hangers they make everything seem very serene. My hanging clothes are on show, not through choice.

If I could afford it, I'd replace them and start over. I guess I'm a little into control over my closet!

It would be a sign for me to do a closet edit because I have too many clothes, even if there is closet space.

I never had matching hangers before, but about a year ago I bought all matching ones and will never go back! I got 100 which seemed like too many, but I like the idea of 20 or so to spare so I don't run into what you are dealing with now

My strategy is as Dianthus said... That said, it's probably a good thing I'm not TOO invested in matching hangers, because I can see this becoming a problem the *next* time it happens. Two types, okay; three... maybe --- after that it is a descent into chaos!

Until I got more of my color hangers I stole some of my husband's. He has black hangers so I grabbed them for my black tops. They didn't match but it worked. Now my hangers are all the same. I makes a huge difference.
