Question for Ash Genial & Virgin owners

I have been admiring and considering either the Ash Genials or Virgins for awhile. Of course now I have waited until it's hard to find my size so I want them even more!! My question is on the sizing of each of these styles. Have you found that they run TTS? Also, I need arch support and the reviews are conflicting. Do any of you require arch support and if so, did you add an insert or were they enough?

I have the Genials - I feel they run a bit small but more importantly shallow in the toe box, which is stiff. I can't wear thick socks because the top of the shoe (where the leather joins the rubber) presses down on my toe knuckles. I could not walk all day in these, although they are fine for running around on errands. I have high volume high arch wide feet, if that helps. I couldn't fit an arch support and get my foot in but I don't find that to be a problem.

They are SO cute but just be warned of that issue.

Thanks Una. I'll have to consider that. I don't have wide feet but my toes do need room to move due to arthritis issues.

I have the Ash Virgin Stars and a pair of wedges, and I find them to be true to size. I have very wide feet with bunions and a medium arch and find them comfy to walk in all day. That said, Una's right in that the toe box is a little constrictive, though I only notice in the wedges. I would probably put in an arch support that didn't go the length of the shoe to minimize congestion in the toe area...that is if you have room for additional arch support.

I think so, but am not at home to check. IMO, you can't govwrong sizing up in a shoe like this.

I had a pair of the Genials for a grand total of 2 days, after stalking them for the better part of a year (they never went on sale). Decided they felt good, but after wearing them once for a few hours, I could not stand having them on. The least comfortable wedge I have ever worn. Fortunately, I was able to clean the bottom off enough to satisfy the store clerk that I hadn't worn them outside (although I did) and I was given a full refund. Like Una said, I could feel the buckles and the seams of the leather on the top of my toes, and it was not good. Toe box is indeed a "different fit" - I have relatively slim, average feet and these were awful. So disappointed, but at the same time, secretly relieved to have my money back in my wallet.

Funny, i have the Genials and LOVE them. All-day shoes, no problem, and TTS, IIRC (I'd have to check the size when I get home). However, I have slightly narrow, low-volume feet. The slight wedge is great for me, as I have a moderate arch and prefer a slight heel for comfort.

I have the Genials and they work for me with thin socks. I tried many pairs before deciding on one. I found that the seams of the shoes rubbed on my toes. I went half size higher. The ones that I kept are comfortable for all day but I would not wear them for serious walking.
I hope yours work out.

I checked my Genials, and they are a size 39 -- I typically wear a size 8, sometimes a 8.5.
