Quest about a Jean Skirt I saw a woman wearing (EDITED WITH MORE DETAIL)

I was shopping and I swa a woman in front of me at the checkout wearing a straight jean skirt. She had the hem folded over her right leg showing the inside of the hem. She look down at her skirt and folded over them hem all the way around showing only the inside of the hem. Like She wanted it fold up all along but it came unfolded. EDIT: She only rolled it up righ along the stitching of the hem one time. IT was only shotened about an inch. Why would she do it?

Is this a new style of wearing a jean skirt? Do any of you girls fold over your jean skirts like this? Thanks. Vicki

I can remember girls in high school (which was a loooong time ago for me) doing that- to make it shorter.

I've never seen someone wear a jean skirt that way before. Chewyspaghetti has a good idea though, maybe the woman wanted the skirt to be shorter without having alter it? It doesn't sound like a very attractive look though.

I rolled up skirts and shorts once I got on the bus to school, so my mother wouldn't know. Most of the time I remembered to roll them down before I got home.

Rolling up to expose the inner hem? How bizarre! Never heard of such a thing.
I remember a brief time when I had to wear a uniform to school and all the girls rolled up their kilts to make them shorter... but that was done at the waist...and even then I bet it looked sketchy.

Ha Michelle, I used to do that with my school uniform. It was the ugliest thing going- red and green kilt, white blouse, green sweater, black knee high socks and black shoes. Our kilts were meant to hit us at mid-calf but we rolled them up to just above our knees.

Sounds a lot like our ghastly uniform, except our kilt was all dark green...and we had to wear a tie too. Everyone rolled the kilt above the knees, but some went a lot higher than that and exposed themselves to evil 14-year-old-girl cattiness at its worst! Ugh, what an awful phase.

Oh I had forgotten about the wretched tie as well! We were supposed to wear ours fully tied up and could be suspended if it wasn't worn correctly. I hated that tie!

It's just a "look". Even though it'a only an inch, that was what a lot of girls in high school did. I never understood the look then, and I certainly wouldn't do it now. I guess it's similar to exposed seams on garmetns, or intentional holes, etc.
