I was browsing the link supplied by Suz in the weekly links round up and saw the follow up post here about 2012 shopping strategy http://nosignposts.blogspot.co.....rules.html .
Apparently, this blogger had tried the great American apparel diet and failed, so is looking for better strategies. Thought you might find it interesting - I did!

Thanks for sharing this link! I really enjoyed reading it and maybe envisioning my "12 will inspire me to make better choices in the clothing I purchase. My wardrobe is practical and not very large but I have few pieces that I love enough to think of them as "12 worthy".

ha- I should have trademarked my plan

I found myself at H&M yesterday trying on a jacket that I really liked, but leaving it there because it's not February yet Plus it helps that I have to pay for 4 AP exams, 2 kids and hubby all have new contact prescriptions to fill, and I know there's more, just can't think of what it is right now.... oh yes, child 3 needs to sign up for the SAT.
I need to get my taxes done and get my refund

I tried the budget thing last year, and it was a good place to start from my willy nilly, no plan, bargain shopping previously. But I would like to get fewer, more impactful pieces at this stage so I'm thinking more and more this item limit vs. dollar limit would work for me.
And yes - you should have trade marked it!!

What a great way to approach shopping. Seems we are all trying to purge and make each article in our wardrobe worthy of being there, so this makes for a great strategy. How's it going, Kim?

I sometimes get sidelined by sales and thrifting. I end up buying more clothes that are not quite right because they are on sale. I don't want to do this, I want to get the right one the first time, even if it means that I pay a little bit more for it. That way when I buy something I am done, I have the perfect one for me and I don't need to keep looking because the thing I bought initially was not quite right.
