I bought a BCBGMaxazria bag in March. The strap is coming apart. I have used in quite a bit when traveling this spring but I don't think it should come apart.
The cobbler says he can fix but really I don't think it should need to be fixed this early in the game. I'm just ranting because I hate spending money on things that fall apart.

Sorry to hear this happened. It seems we all get bit by the inferior quality bug sooner or later regardless of the price point.

Yes, but doesn't it seem like it happens more often than it used to? Sorry about your bag. That is SO frustrating.
Some times I check in which country something is made before I buy it (e.g. I have higher hopes for something made in France or Italy), but it never stops me from buying something I fall in love with.

I had a pair of nude flats from DSW that started to discolor the first day I was wearing them. It was the strangest thing. I returned them as defective. The manager was reluctant to credit me and said, "I'll do it this once, but just so you know in the future, if you think you're going to return the shoes, don't wear them."

Hello? I didn't THINK I was going to return them! They ended up being made of crappy leather that went all wacko while I was wearing them!

I can't take it back because I've had it too long the girl said over the phone. At least it can be fixed. I still don't think it should have come apart in less than 90 days.

oooh. Try going to the store and taking it back. I would NOT settle for that type of nonsense. You are not returning the bag because you don't like it. The quality failed and that's not your fault. I did that with a 3 month old Club Monaco piece. Got a brand new item in return.

The "things fall apart" phenomenon is just inexcusable. Debbie, I hope you can get some satisfaction. Retailers need to understand that in this era, where everyone has the moutpiece of the internet, customer satisfaction is more important than ever.

Did you buy from a 3rd party store? Because you can try to contact the manufacturer (BCBG) as well. Sometimes a brand will stand behind their items even if a retailer will not.

Oh, and please heckle them about the fact that the bag didn't even survive one season!

I took my bag to the BCBG store last night and the girl said she would talk to the manager and get back with me. They are going to have it fixed. Yes! I would have had it fixed but I would been mad and probably would have never bought another bag from them. If I take it in tonight I will have it back on Mon.

I bought an ECI top with a flower applique during the Nordstrom 1/2 yearly sale. I wore it for the first time yesterday and one of the flowers fell off. I feel your frustration!

I have a personal policy that even cheap things should last one season (as in even Target has a 90-day return policy and will take back defective items in it).

Nicer quality items should last longer than that! And, if defective, SHOULD go back to merchant as 'defective'. Then they go can back to the manufacturer - so the manufacturer knows they need better quality or quality control.

Exactly and a bag from them should definitely last more than one season. Thanks for encouraging me to fight harder on this. It was definitely frustrating but I'm satisfied with the results.
