As a fellow fussy-footed person who's also tremendously hard on her shoes (I've had new Nikes literally fall apart on my feet during a walk home in the rain!), I have to say my few pairs of Hush Puppies --- one pair of (fashion, not workout) trainers, a pair of booties and a pair of pumps --- have held up for years. They aren't my most-used shoes, but they do get a good deal of wear in season. I've managed to scuff them, the trainers did need their soles re-adhered after about three years use (they're still kicking around a couple of years later!), and the booties had the leather crack and peel under the zipper (from a VERY humid climate) after a couple of years; but that was it.
I've also found them quite comfy. However, at the same price point, I do find Clarks rather more comfy (I have wide feet, which may be skewing this). My Clarks pairs are newer, though, so I can't quite compare the quality yet.
