Yup, it works! Can't find a pic right now, but I have also done it with less wide crops (like cuffed straight legs).

My cropped pants are narrow legged, so I think I'll try it when the weather warms up.

Good to know, Angie. Thanks! I just don't want to spend $ on shoes right now. I'll keep my eye out for the right ones, though. I'm sure I'll buy new summer sandals in a few months.

I think so for sure! It's having that extra height above the ankle that ties in with the shorter pants, but still having some openness to the foot.
I'm on the lookout for that "effect" in closed-toe shoes and am trying to be open to what gives the right effect even if it might not be an exact copycat of outfits.
