Purple post got me thinking about boots

The black boots in my purple pencil skirt post got me pondering. I have a pair of Sam Edelman Petty boots in putty that I have not yet worn. They are soft and yummy and I do love them. I bought them to wear with pants as the thought of me wearing ankle boots with a dress or skirt had never entered the orbit of my world.

Well, I have to say I prefer the look of the slightly taller black boot on my legs to the lower cut of the Petty because it masks the cankles. Of course the higher heels are probably part of the preferred equation. Now I find myself thinking I should look for a slightly taller cut (not heel) pair similar to the Petty that could still be worn with pants, yet look better with skirts.

Do you agree that the cut of the black boots is more complementary? Am I on the right track with this thought? Thanks a bunch!

Yes, I think with a skirt, the black boots flatter your legs better.

I also think the black boots are more flattering, but I think it's because of the heel height more so than the height of the shaft. Take my opinion with a grain of salt because I'm still struggling to find booties that I can wear with skirts and not look like a midget with my legs cut off.

No, you're not unobservant. I was AWOL. Busy weekend, and stuff to do afterwards. And this place just sucks me in for too long when I come, so I have to stay away if I want to be productive. LOL!

And I am stuck with a crappy camera and no way to link it to my computer either.

I did see it. Thank you! Are they comfortable? I have incredibly fussy feet and need comfy, less than 2 inch heels.

i like both boots. ususally i prefer a taller boot but the putty ones match your skintone nicely that i think they work as shorter boots with skirts.

KathyL, I find them to be fairly comfortable. The soles are soft and flexible. I took them along on a Chicago weekend but not for the marathon shopping portion of the trip. If you have incredibly fussy feet they probably aren't for you.

I did want to second what melllls said about the shorter boot matching your skin tone and elongates your leg line with nude/no stockings. I think something in that color, shaft height but with a little bit more of a heel would be more flattering.

They could still be worn with pants but look better with skirts than the Pettys. I hate to return the Pettys because they are so nice though. Guess we're both looking for boots now : )

If you like them with pants, keep them! They look great with your first outfit and it sounds like they are comfy. For the past decade I've only worn my booties with pants. It's just that with all the craze with booties this season, I am looking for a pair that I can wear with my dresses and skirts for a change.

I agree with your assessment - the taller heel works better with the ankle bootie with a skirt, I think because those booties tend to shorten the leg a bit, and the heel offsets that. Cute outfit!
