I decided to wear a dress today since the dress challenge has been happening and reminded me of all my unworn frocks. That led to a mini-project of pulling out a bunch of dresses from my closet that have not been worn in at least a year, actually more like two years in many cases. I put on each one, took a picture, and in all but one case decided they needed to go. A couple of them had even been altered after I lost weight, and never worn since.
Three of them were empire waist, a cut it seems I leaned on quite heavily a few years ago and a few pounds heavier. I don't know why, but now they all seem to make me look/feel bottom heavy, or frumpy. Or maybe I just looked frumpy back then and didn't realize it -- yikes! My style has definitely changed. Some of the prints seemed too fussy or something.
I kept an older black and white printed jersey shirtdress, which is my go-to funeral outfit (sad but unfortunately necessary), along with my more recent dress purchases from last year. Wrap dresses seem to be my friend, as do cuts that actually reach my knees, which are VERY hard to find!
This cut my number of sleeved dresses in half! It looks like I may be on the lookout for a new multipurpose casual LBD in NYC this weekend. My old one didn't make the cut.
