Purge old jackets/cardis

Sorry, being a bit of a forum hogg - last one today. So in with the new means out with the old? Should I purge these?

#1 Grey cardi with ?embossed design. Years old, good CPW, dated?
#2 Grey jacket with black trim. Years old, good CPW, dated? look too big now?
#3 Black ovesize shirt with hankerchief hem. Bought last year, hardly worn (its very thin, just T shirt material), not expensive but still bad CPW, dated? look,too big now?

Would appreciate any comments/feedback. Thanks.

My quick take on this is that the shape of # 1 does feel dated. . Number 2 seems too big and not "today". Can't assess number three as well on my screen against the black pants, but if you're not sold on it, trust your instincts and pass it on. Not everyone likes to wear that longer length, but some use it to good effect with specific outfits. Does it feel too big? Are the shoulders right? To my eye, they all may have a similar issue in terms overwhelming your frame. Haven't seen your other posts yet.

You are inspiring me to liberate some closet space as well.

I agree with Eliza - #3 is a possible it may work well with a dress/skirt or cropped pants.

Definitely purge 2 as it's way too big on you. #3 is still wearable to my eye. It looks a lot like the lightweight drapey knits from Eileen Fisher. #1 is still ok as a basic cardi, but it won't be long before it's too big on you.

I'm seeing similar --#2 does no favors; #1 isn't super fab, pretty boxy, would toss unless you find you can style it with a dress--or with lighter colors.
#3 tends to go drama-frumpy unless styled differently and maybe as suggested with a slim skirt or dress underneath (volume over structure) so you're not overtaken by fabric, and not so much black.

Carolbee it is lovely to see you! I somehow missed your first WIW and have just found it and I really like your style:).

I like the cut of #1, I think it is pretty classic. Bit there are other element that read as dated.

#2 I like bit I do think it is too be and does swamp you. I would let it go.

#3 drapes nicely but I have a preference for no collars. I think it would look more of the moment with the collar BUT it could be good to keep hold off until its too big.

The little cropped cardi might look nicely retro with a dress or skirt. The big jacket might be happy for arctic weather to layer over a bulky jumper. Otherwise, it looks too big.
The drape cardi, being lightweight, might be better as a spring summer topper.
Can you tell I find it hard to purge?

like most of the other posters, i feel #2 is to big. #1 & 3 are both ok but if you have something else in your closet that will take the place of these 2 items, i would consider letting them go.

Thanks, its obvious when you look at the photo that #2 is now way too big, I tried to purge it a while ago but was talked out of it. Fairly sure #1 will go too. May hang onto #3 for this winter/spring and see if I can get anymore wear from it before it is too big.

Toss #1 and #2. I agree with keeping #3---great job going through your wardrobe!

Another vote for tossing 1 and 2. I think that 3 is quite nice and like the idea of pairing it with an alternate bottom. I would try a few styles before purging that one. Good job on the closet purge!

I agree with the others Carol.
#2 makes a statement on its own with the lighter colours, and I prefer a topper to complement the outfit underneath. Even if it fitted better, I would consider replacing- much prefer your newby in the other thread!

It does seem the everyone agrees to ditch 1 and 2, keep 3 for now. I will try it with jeans but I won't be posting a picture. My jeans from last year are in the purge pile already as they are miles too big. So the jeans I will be wearing this year are 7 years old, taken in a bit so they don't look too awful. I will not buy new jeans until I have the next 5kg gone.

Sounds like you have done a great job getting fitter Carol, and new jeans will be further incentive to keep going.
