Purchasing possible discontinued YSL lipstick online at Neiman Marcus

I've loved the YSL Volupte Sheer Candy balm in 08. The color is no longer available at yslbeautyus.com but it is avail at neimanmarcus.com Why would N-M carry a color that YSL does not? Is it "old" or simply discontinued? I'd be wary buying on ebay, but Neiman Marcus seems legit.

Second question - how many shall I stock up on

Lipstick is ok for about two years...

You could maybe keep it longer, unopened in the fridge, but I suspect it would dry out.

Uh oh! I am also a big fan of that line, though different shades. I haven't shopped for it in a while, so don't know of any discontinuations. Maybe NM just has extra stock on hand - they might carry alot 'cause clients like it, or they made a deal with YSL for extra stock? Sorry I am just guessing. Doesn't necessarily mean it that it is "old."

Have you tried Sephora? I have found YSL there.

Regarding stocking up....How long does it take you to use up a tube. Because if you buy extras, they may go off before you get to use them. I wonder if you can freeze or refrigerate lipsticks?

annabelle - sometimes if a color is a big seller the store has it on replenishment. Like EF does not sell her skirted leggings any more but Nordstrom does. With make up Bare Escentuals is not selling "the truth" quad palate but nordies had it and I stocked up.

It is very rare that I disagree with Rachylou. I feel lipstick can last a long long long time. I would say buy as much as you can and wear it happily into the future.
