I’m up watching the Olympic trampoline competition and I’m a bit obsessed with the Chinese team’s puffy, which they put on but didn’t close once they finished competing.

Ooh. I want a team puffer now! That’s totally what I’d want after performing death defying routines. That should be mandatory olympic wear! Hehe

Rachylou, yes, except my death defying days are definitely behind me lol!
Bijou, right. I’m surprised sometimes how fast I get cold even after a very leisurely swim.
Kkards, the stripe is everything! And I’m glad I’m not responsible for the a/c bill.
RobinF, I agree. When puffys first came out I didn’t “get” them but Rachy’s love for them wore me down.

I keep coveting the gear on athletes from other countries. Must have the tee worn by the Japanese women's skateboard champ!!!

We’ve watched so many offbeat sports. I really enjoyed skateboarding. How do I know women are smarter than men? The women* wore helmets. We watched mountain biking. One woman was riding up some slippery rocks and she went down, gently, but then her bike completely slid away from her. We watched BMX biking. If you fall, the others all ride over you! We watched ping pong sorry table tennis. The ball went so fast I couldn’t even see it most of the time. We watched synchronized diving. I hate synchronization!!! Ever since high school PE made us do synchronized swimming. We watched archery. I loved the tv ad showing swimmer Katie Ledecky taking up archery and winning a chintzy little trophy. I want to try it, too! Why not?

* By women I mean 13 YOs

Jaileen - we've been watched all the different events too. We were really rooting for the 13-year old Brazilian skateboarder and the Japanese young woman. Was happy for the British men's synchro divers who won gold. And judo, taekwando, fencing, ping pong, badminton, cycling, rowing, canoe, kayaketc. etc. Pysched for the track and field that just starting up!

Sloper, the canoe and kayak events were interesting. They are so strong and skillful, mostly. I loved badminton, too. My faves were badminton and ping pong because I played them. The six hour bicycle race - wow!

I enjoy the rowing! And track… but not necessarily for the fashion. Everyone just wears their underpants in public now, hehe

Rachylou - I haven’t seen much of the track and field yet, but watched the US qualifying meet. Our ladies were stunning in Nike and New Balance and Athleta gear. And the way they added personality and glam with hair, nails, etc.

Also, just read an article in NYTimes about the Liberian team gear. I’ll send the link to Inge.

Runcarla, I agree.
Suntiger, it was. Although I'm beginning to think that many of the sports are about twisting and somersaulting, whether trampolining, diving, or gymnastics.
JAileen, I am enjoying watching lots of different sports also. We watched a lot of XGames when our sons were a certain age.
I've never tried synchronized anything, but the idea of being underwater that much, well, not my strength. I loved that ad also, and wanted to do archery again. I did it once at camp and enjoyed it, but I don't think my shoulders would appreciate it now. And, I can't believe helmets aren't required.
Rachylou, I agree, some of those, well, and especially with the men, I don't need to see such details. I noticed that if there is a fairly dark pattern or at least a dark color, it's not as bad.
Sloper and Rachylou, agreed the hair and nails are fun.
